The Forum of Families of Hostages and Missing Persons regretted the speech by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu this Wednesday before the US Congress, for the absence of a reference to an immediate agreement to release people detained by the Palestinian group Hamas.
“Forty-five minutes of speeches and applause will not erase a sad fact: the words ‘Deal now!’ were not present in the Prime Minister’s speech. Nor was there any mention of the 116 hostages who, once again, will not return home tonight,” the group said in a statement.
Thousands of Israelis who support an immediate truce agreement to free the hostages, held since October 7 following the Hamas attack in southern Israel, watched Netanyahu’s speech before both houses of the US Congress in Washington live on the screens of the renowned Kidnapping Square in Tel Aviv, hoping to hear the declaration “there is a deal”.
