An 80-year-old man died early Sunday morning following a fire in a house in the town of Penamacor, a source from Civil Protection said.
The alert for the fire in the victim’s home, in the village of Penamacor, Castelo Branco district, was given at 5:50 am, a source from the Beira Baixa Sub-Regional Command told Lusa.
According to the same source, the fire occurred in the kitchen of the house, and did not completely destroy the house.
The death was confirmed at the scene, he added.
On the ground, there were 19 GNR, Penamacor Firefighters and INEM operatives, supported by seven vehicles, he said.
