Half a year ago on MyApple I described the House Of Marley 2 Mini speaker, now it’s time for its much bigger version – House Of Marley Get Together 2 XL.
House Of Marley is an audio brand created by Bob Marley’s son, known not only for its great sound but also for its care for the environment. The brand’s products use bamboo, REWIND® fabric (made from organic cotton, recycled PET plastic and recovered hemp), REGRIND® silicone (recovered from waste that would otherwise end up in landfill) and aluminum. The House Of Marley Get Together 2 XL speaker is similar.
Visually, the Get Together 2 XL model is similar to its smaller brother, the Get Together 2 Mini, but the XL in the name of this speaker is not accidental. The speaker has quite large dimensions, measuring 44.9 x 17.9 x 18 cm. That’s quite a lot for a portable speaker. Because the Get Together 2 XL is equipped with a battery that allows for over 20 hours of operation. The front of the device is made of bamboo and has two 4-inch woofers and two 1-inch tweeters. The House Of Marley logo is placed in the middle. The housing is made of REGRIND® silicone and aluminum and is trimmed with the aforementioned REWIND® fabric.
The top surface houses a panel with playback controls, as well as a factory equalizer setting change button (marked with a characteristic wave symbol) and a fairly large, illuminated volume knob. The color of the backlight depends on the selected equalizer mode.
On the back wall, there is a USB-C port for charging the built-in battery and a USB-A port, which in turn allows you to charge an audio source, such as a smartphone. House Of Marley Get Together 2 XL is therefore also a kind of large power bank.
Get Together 2 XL connects to the sound source via Bluetooth 5.0. The speaker has a power of 2 X 30 W, which is more than enough to fill even a large living room with music. Thanks to the battery power supply, you can also put it on the terrace or take it to a party. It is resistant to dust and water splashes (meets the IP65 standard), although of course you should remember about its size. I would rather take its smaller brother for camping.
It is worth mentioning that the device is also equipped with a microphone and can act as a hands-free set. It does very well in this function. The voice picked up by the microphone is clear and understandable to the recipient. The voice reproduced by the built-in speakers is also of high quality.
The House of Marley Get Together 2 XL offers several built-in equalizer settings. These include Bass Boost, Acoustic, and Marley Signature Sound. These allow the user to customize the sound of this speaker to their own preferences. Personally, I like the Marley Signature Sound mode the most. In this mode, the sound is balanced throughout the entire frequency range, although with a slight advantage of low and mid frequencies. The bass is clear, powerful with a pretty good cutoff, and the instruments in the middle, such as guitars, keyboards, and vocals, are meaty and clear. The highs, on the other hand, are subtle. The speaker also creates a pretty wide music scene, which is partly due to its size and the arrangement of the drivers. The Bass Boost mode is aimed at party people who like a lot of bass, while the Acoustic mode is characterized by a bright sound with emphasized vocals.
House Of Marley Get Together 2 XL is a very good proposition for people who are looking for a powerful Bluetooth speaker for home, garden or party, which will work well with any music genre, from jazz, through rock metal to purely party music.
