The body of a housewife was recovered from the maize field adjacent to Gwaldihi Hajipara of Dinajpur’s Khansama Upazila. The members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 arrested Sabuj Islam, the friend of the deceased housewife’s husband in this incident.
This information was informed in a press release signed by RAB Senior Assistant Director (Media) Flight Lt. Saifullah Naeem at 11 am on Friday. Earlier on Thursday night, he was arrested from Saiful Islam’s house in Fatejongpur village of Chirirbandar upazila.
Later RAB-13 handed over the arrested accused to Khansama police station.
The detained Sabuj Islam is the son of Zahid of Kamar Mor area of that area. He is accused number 2 in the murder case filed at the police station and is a friend of Mahfuz Alam, husband of deceased Anisha Khatun.
According to RAB’s press release and talking to locals, the deceased housewife was identified with the arrested accused and other accused on the basis of working at EPZ Evergreen Company in Fatejungpur area of Chirirbandar upazila. At one stage, when Anisha developed a love affair with Mahfuzur Rahman, the accused number 1 of the case, they got married without informing their families. As the family of the accused did not accept the marriage, the accused and the deceased Anisha were living in the residence of her elder brother Moniruzzaman Monir, a resident of Gwaldihi Elias Hajipara of Khansama upazila. After a few months, both of them started living in a rented house in the neighboring area. The victim Anisha went to her father’s house when the victim and the accused got into an argument. Later on the evening of January 6, the arrested accused along with other accused came to the plaintiff’s house to take the victim to a rented house and took the victim. On the morning of January 7, police recovered his body from a corn field near Goaldihi village of Khansama police station. In this incident, Anisha’s elder brother filed a murder case in Khansama police station as the plaintiff.
Khansama police station OC Najmul Haque confirmed the matter and said that Sabuj Islam, the accused in the murder case handed over by RAB, will be sent to the learned court on Friday. However, the operation to arrest all those involved in this incident is continuing.
