how (and is it even possible) to take something positive from it?

Forced by circumstances, today we are again in a similar situation as 15 years ago during the previous recession. Surely many people remember that at that time one or another friend, acquaintance or family member announced that they had been laid off.

The program “Work and salary” examines this very vital and painful situation, which does not bring joy to either employees or employers – layoffs. Entrepreneur and salary awareness trainer Irene Annus and Kristiina Palm, HR manager of the unemployment fund and board member of the HR association PARE, are visiting in the studio, and both program guests also have their own stories to tell: Irene gladly shares the story of her layoff experience from the time of the previous recession, while Kristiina brings the listeners the current experience of the unemployment fund.

The program contains a lot of good recommendations for both the laying-off manager and the laid-off employee. We will find out how an employer can support an employee who is being laid off, how a layoff conversation should be conducted, and how to behave so that the employee does not feel worthless and thrown overboard. We also hear what experts recommend to those who have received a layoff notice, we talk about the fact that such decisions are usually not personal and can be very difficult for the manager as well.

So how do you retrench in such a way that you have a pleasant memory of the workplace and a desire to definitely return there when the situation improves? How do you communicate this difficult situation in a way that employees understand and come to say thank you for a great explanation?

Listen, think, use!

The conversation will be led by Helen Roots, Head of Personnel News.
