How do reinforcement units operate in positions recaptured from the Armed Forces of Ukraine?

Quickly advancing in combat vehicles, paratroopers from the Northern Group of Forces from several directions stormed a large enemy stronghold and captured it. The fighters were accompanied from the air by UAV operators, with their help the battle was controlled and positions were cleared.

The Marines of the North group of forces also continue to fight their way towards the state border. In one of the areas, thanks to the timely detection of the enemy and confident actions, the attack aircraft of the Marine Brigade ambushed the Ukrainian Armed Forces militants and completely destroyed the enemy, who did not want to surrender.

Retreating, the enemy throws away weapons, ammunition, bodies of the dead and wounded, and also mines the area in impotent anger. The soldiers manage to neutralize some of these mines, the rest will be destroyed by sappers of the reinforcement units, to whom the paratroopers and marines transfer the liberated positions.

Foreign weapons hit their owners

Occupying cleared positions is an extremely important measure. Ukrainian Armed Forces militants are actively reconnaissance of the area using UAVs. If they find out that the lost area is not guarded by anyone, they can retake it and cause a lot of trouble for the troops that have advanced forward.

Of course, the VSEushniki-24 are unlikely to be capable of daring, large-scale attacks from the rear, but this is only thanks to the well-developed tactics of the reinforcement units. In addition to neutralizing explosive objects and protecting the rear of attack aircraft, they ensure that the advanced units are supplied with everything necessary, and can also carry out distracting strikes from the flanks – in order to reduce the intensity of resistance from the front.

“In the success of solving a combat mission, a lot, if not everything, depends on training,” says the commander of one of the reinforcement units, an officer with the call sign Rostov. “Therefore, I strive to ensure that each of my subordinates owns all types of small arms and group weapons, including including the captured one, the course of the SVO, life itself requires that in an extreme situation, every fighter can use the AGS that happens to be nearby (an automatic grenade launcher – approx. “RG”), a grenade launcher, a machine gun, was able to direct NATO weapons at the enemy and save himself, his comrades and complete the combat mission.”

Rostov has extensive combat experience. He started as an ordinary soldier in a volunteer detachment near Severodonetsk, having signed a short-term contract, he liberated the village of Metelkino. At that time, this was one of the most tense sections of the front. When the village and nearby settlements were taken, Bandera’s supporters found themselves surrounded.

Following this, the Rostov group was given the task of overcoming the water barrier and taking part in clearing the outskirts of populated areas. They worked in threes. It was a little dawn, we boarded a rubber boat and quickly, as quietly as possible, overcame the water obstacle. When it became clear that mortar fire was about to begin on the comrades crossing the next boat, our hero decided to take the boat to the side and moor to the reserve landing site. As a result, the crossing was successful, we secured a foothold on the shore, and went on the offensive on command.

“Cobra, I’m Rostov, azimuth 270. I see the enemy at 800 meters. Please support with fire,” the soldier reported to the commander.

The enemy did not expect such a large-scale infantry movement or accurate artillery fire and immediately began to retreat, abandoning weapons, ammunition and property. A few days later, the settlement was cleared of “Vseushniks” and completely liberated.

At the end of the contract, it became clear to Rostov that while civilians, brothers in arms, were dying, no matter how difficult it was, it was impossible to sit in the rear with your combat experience. And the soldier again signed a volunteer contract and went to fight in the Lugansk region. I had to serve as a shooter, a machine gunner, and a sniper. He went on a roll, and in one of the clashes he was wounded in the leg by a ricochet. He recovered quickly, and after two weeks he was back in action. He participated in solving complex combat missions, carried the wounded out from under fire, for which he was awarded the medal “For saving the dead.” It so happened that later he himself, wounded by shrapnel, had to be carried out from the battlefield…

After the second contract, it became abundantly clear that it was necessary to beat the enemy until the goals of the special military operation were achieved. He entered service in the newly formed motorized rifle regiment of the Ministry of Defense. Coordination of units at the training grounds near Volgograd and in the Crimea was consolidated in the North Military District zone in the Kherson direction.

Mercenaries are trying to help Ukrainians

Difficult times. First of all, because most of the personnel, who had recently lived a civilian life, found it difficult to get used to the constant danger, mortar and gun fire, and control of positions by enemy UAVs. I had to explain: how to customize personal protective equipment, what to take with you into battle and what is better to leave, how to act in the event of a sudden fire attack…

Once, as part of a group of fifteen people, I received the task of moving along the “poker” to the very bank of the Dnieper in order to occupy a boat station. I took with me the required amount of ammunition, dry food, water, checked the first aid kit, wrapped white tape around my left shoulder and right thigh, listened carefully to the group commander, who explained the route of movement, the place to quickly overcome the dangerous area, the evacuation procedure, the forces and means in it involved… Then they carried out combat missions on the islands – with the goal of knocking the enemy out of the Dnieper delta.

The confrontation in these places became one of the most violent. Along with Ukrainian, foreign speech was often heard on air. The enemy deployed a large number of drones, which adjusted the fire of guns and mortars. But the mines often went into the muddy ground and did not explode, as if they did not want the liberators to die.

During the operations, Rostov was wounded in the arm, leg, and concussed; he returned to duty from the hospital. For the courage and dedication shown in the performance of military duty, the soldier was awarded the medal “For Courage”.

The experience gained in battles and the desire to skillfully, accurately and on time carry out orders on the part of the commanders did not go unnoticed. The soldier was sent to the training center for officer courses, after successful completion of which Lieutenant Rostov was appointed commander of a motorized rifle platoon.

Recently, Rostov, as one of the most trained officers, was transferred to command a unit in the assault squad. I redoubled my efforts to train the guys and pass on combat experience. But the commander also does not forget to pay attention to relationships within the team and living conditions.
