How efficient are the BYD Seal U, Kia EV6 and Toyota bZ4X

The cars analyzed by Green NCAP in the third series of tests in 2024 there are six: three electric (BYD Seal U, Kia EV6 and Toyota bZ4X), two petrol (Kia Ceed and Volkswagen Taigo) and one diesel (Peugeot 308).

The former conquered 5 placethe Peugeot 308 and the Volkswagen Taigo two, the petrol Kia Ceed passed the tests earning two stars.

Maximum score for the electric ones

The BYD Seal U got a average score of 93% thanks to zero exhaust emissions, good energy efficiency and minimal greenhouse gas emissions. With an 11kW charge, the car was shown to have around 87% of its energy charged from the electrical outlet.

The Kia EV6 got the 5 place with an average score of 94%. In terms of output from the mains to the battery, it has been shown to ensure significantly lower energy losses from the charging cable and battery.

The Toyota bZ4X received an average score of 97%. It performed well in all environmental categories, particularly efficiency, achieving a good 90.4% output from the grid to the battery.

Diesel and petrol

The Peugeot 308 with BlueHDi diesel engine achieved a result of 3 stars and 55% average score. The diesel powertrain was convincing due to its reasonable fuel consumption and discreet control over the emission of pollutants.

The Volkswagen Taigo got it 3 placewith an average score of 53% and, in terms of energy efficiency, it scored 5.2 out of 10. The Kia Ceed received only 2 stars with an average score of 37% because “its environmental performance requires further improvements in terms of emissions reduction and fuel savings”.
