The “marriage” between the MotoGP and BMW M continues. Begun in 1999, the relationship that sees the Munich-based company as the protagonist continues with the arrival of a new Safety Car. Already seen on the track last weekend at the Misano Grand Prix, here is the new BMW-M5 with the colours of MotoGP.
Specially designed by the M Performance department, the M5 “wears” a special livery and many exclusive additions that certainly don’t make it go unnoticed.
Racing Dynasty
The design of the M5 Safety Car has been reinterpreted taking inspiration from the BMW M Hybrid V8 racing models competing in the FIA World Endurance Championship and at the last 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The BMW’s shape is even more muscular, with wider wheel arches and new side skirts, as well as a sculpted front end and rear diffuser in Kevlar. Noteworthy is the presence of carbon fiberwith front appendages, side inserts, exhaust pipes and fuel cap made from this lightweight material.
Special features of the M5 include a roof bar, front splitter, Recaro seats6-point seat belts, fire extinguisher and fuel suction pump for transport abroad.
Always 727 HP “ibridi”
The numerous carbon components, however, do not change the overall weight of the BMW (criticised by many enthusiasts), which always remains higher than the 2.5 tons.

BMW M5 MotoGP Safety Car, the interior
A decidedly high value to which the important dimensions of the new BMW M5 (a full 5.09 meters long) certainly contribute, but also and above all the plug-in hybrid powertrain, which is composed of a 4.4 V8 biturbo and an electric motor, with the latter powered by an 18.6 kWh battery. In total, the BMW delivers 727 CV by 1.000 Nm.
Despite this, the performance remains M5-like, with a 0-100 km/h sprint of 3.5 seconds and 0-200 km/h covered in 10.9 seconds. The top speed is 250 km/h and can be increased to 305 km/h as an option. The battery can be charged up to a maximum of 7.4 kW and allows for a range of 69 km in electric mode.
I prices starting from 150,450 euros.
