How many medals will we bring from the 2024 Olympics in France? Detailed analysis on each individual discipline

Forecasts ProSportbefore the Olympics, is that we can reach 9-10 medals if everything goes well at Paris 2024.

And this dowry of medals could be a performance if we look at the time of Tokyo 2021, when we came back with only 4 medals, of which only one was gold.

2024 Olympics in France, what are the chances of coming back with 10 medals?

Since Sydney 2000, Romanian sport has collapsed, edition by edition, from 19 we reached only 4. It’s time to recover.

To begin with, let’s analyze each federation separately and what they were betting on almost a year ago.

FR of ATHLETICS – the objective is a medal through Alina Rotaru in the long jump and at least a ranking in the 4th-8th places. We have 13 athletes qualified in Paris: Andrea Mikloş (400 m), Alina Rotaru Kottmann (long), Delvine Relin Meringor (marathon), Joan Chelimo Melly (marathon), Stella Jepkosegei Rutto (3000 m hurdles), Bianca Ghelber (hammer throw ), Florentina Iusco (triple jump, long), Diana Ion (triple jump), Andreea Taloş (triple jump), Daniela Stanciu (high jump) – female; Alexandru Novac (javelin throw), Rareş Toader (weight throw), Alin Firfirică (discus throw).

FR de BOX – objective a medal through Lăcrămioara Perijoc. The failure, however, of the participation objective of taking three other athletes to France from whom there were expectations: Claudia Nechita, Loredana Marin and Cosmin Gîrleanu.

FR of CANOEING – objective 3-4 medals, one of which is gold – girls’ double crew. Romania’s rowing team is numerous, 45 athletes. The goal can be exceeded.

FR of CYCLING – the objective was a medal, through Vlad Dascălu, in mountain bike, but he violated the anti-doping rules. No medal chances with Eden Molnar.

NO KAYAC CANOE – a medal, through Cătălin Chirilă (C1- 1000 m) and a ranking on places 4-6, through the crew of Oleg Nuță, Ilie Sprincean (C2 – 500 m). Even two medals can be obtained.

FR of GYMNASTICS – a medal. But the return of the women’s team after 12 years at the Olympic Games must be welcomed. There are chances of a medal, on the machines. Athletes: Ana Maria Bărbosu, Sabrina Maneca Voinea, Lilia Cosman, Amalia Ghigoartă, Andreea Preda; male: Andrei Muntean

Judo and fencing send only one athlete, but they dream of a medal

FR de HALTERE – objective a medal, through Loredana Toma, European champion en titre. We have only two qualified athletes, Mihaela Cambei (cat. 49 kg) and Loredana Toma (71 kg), below the expectations of the specialized federation.

FR de JUDO – objective a medal. Alex Creț is qualified (category 90 kg). Reduced medal chances.
