Romanian tourists bought plane tickets worth 1.2 billion euros in the summer of this year. 163 euros – the average price of plane tickets in the summer of 2024, 169 euros – the average price of plane tickets in the summer of 2023, announces the Ziarul Financiar.
Local airports registered 7.9 million passengers in the three summer months of this year, according to the data of the Romanian Airports Association, above last year’s level, when there were 7.3 million people. The average price of plane tickets this summer was 163 euros, according to a study carried out by Vola.ro, the plane ticket booking platform. Thus, Romanian tourists paid 1.2 billion euros for plane tickets, according to a calculation made by ZF based on Vola and AAR data.
The increase in the number of passengers comes as a result of a growing appetite to travel, but also due to an increasing number of flights. Airlines have introduced new destinations, and the one that benefits from the most flights and new destinations is Bucharest.
If on charter destinations, rented by travel agencies, Turkey and Greece occupied the leading places in the top vacation destinations of Romanians, in terms of vacations made on their own account, Italy was the country to which most Romanians flew. Over 2,100 flights to Italian cities took off from Bucharest alone during the three summer months.
