In SERBIA, from tomorrow until April 1, vehicles must have winter tires on all four wheels if there is snow, ice or ice on the road.
If drivers do not comply with this provision, fines from 6,000 to 20,000 dinars are foreseen for natural persons, and more than 100,000 dinars for legal entities.
Vehicles must have all four winter tires marked M+S (MS, MS or M&S), with a tread depth of at least four millimeters. Part of the winter equipment includes snow chains that are used on roads where this is prescribed by a traffic sign.
AMSS appeals to drivers not to put winter tires only on the drive wheels, but on all four wheels.
– In addition to the standard additional equipment for the vehicle, which includes a spare wheel and towing cable, vest, triangle, first aid kit, there is certainly additional equipment that includes chains and other devices to increase traction, Nevena Damjanović from Tanjug said earlier Auto-moto Federation of Serbia.
She added that the vehicle should also be inspected – check the condition of the battery, condition of the heater, engine, wipers and all additional devices.
– The tire tread must be at least four millimeters. When it comes to winter driving conditions, we believe that drivers will also have to have devices to increase traction, which are necessary outside of populated areas because we are expecting snow and a lot of precipitation, Damjanović said.
She pointed out that although there is no snowfall at the moment, the temperature can be really low, and below seven degrees Celsius, ice forms and the road is slippery.
Tamara Ninić from AMSS reminds that the use of additional winter equipment is mandatory outside the populated area.
– Additional winter equipment is used on parts of the road when there is snow, ice or ice on the road, where a sign clearly indicates the obligation to use them or if an authorized person, say a traffic officer, suggests it, Ninićeva told Tanjug earlier.
She said that universal tires intended for all four seasons are still allowed in Serbia and that drivers can use them even in winter driving conditions, unlike in Germany, where they have been banned since October 1 of this year.
When it comes to the price of winter tires, they vary and depend on the size and manufacturer, so the cheapest are those with the smallest diameter and which can be bought for around 4,000 dinars, while tires with a larger diameter can cost around 20,000 dinars per piece. , and in case the manufacturer is a well-known brand – the price can reach 70,000 dinars.
