2025: How much does an international driver’s license cost?
The international driving license is a document that translates a national driving license into seven different languages:
- English;
- French;
- German;
- Spanish;
- Russian;
- Greek;
- Arabic.
This international permit is recognized in more than 170 countries in the world, being regulated by the Vienna Convention of 1968.
The Romanian driving license is recognized in all the states of the European Union and in the states with which the EU has agreements in this regard. However, those traveling to other countries outside the EU need an international driving license to be able to drive cars or scooters.
Attention, however, the international driver’s license does not replace the national one. Which means that in order to obtain this document, you must have a valid driver’s license.
The international driving license is issued after submitting the following documents:
- the request of the applicant;
- the identity document within its validity period;
- proof of payment of the international driver’s license fee.
The fee for issuing an international driving license is 46 lei. Payment of this tariff can be made to account RO87TREZ7015032XXX025704, opened at the Sector 1 Treasury.
The validity of this document is 3 years and will be issued within 30 days from the date of submission of the request.
