How much money has INPS already paid out in 2024 for the Universal Single Allowance?

In the first five months of the year, INPS has paid out over 8.1 billion euros to almost six million families benefiting from the Universal Single Allowance for a total of over 9 million dependent children.

Between January and May, families benefiting from theUniversal single allowanceand a total of over eight billion euros have been disbursed, precisely 8.1 billion. The data are those of thelatest update from the INPS Statistical Observatory on the Single Allowance, which provides a picture of the support measure for families with children from time to time. The 8.1 billion euros paid in the first five months of the year were distributed to a monthly average of almost six million families (precisely 5,966,107), for a total of over nine million children (9,756,844).

These resources are in addition to the 18.1 billion already disbursed in total in 2023 and the 13.2 billion for the months of 2022 in which the measure has come into force. Looking at the data for May 2024, it emerges that the average amount per dependent childincluding applicable increases, is approximately 167 euros: it ranges from 56 euros for those who do not present the ISEE or exceed the maximum threshold (which for this year is set at 45,574.96 euros) to 224 euros for those who declare the minimum ISEE class (set for 2024 at 17,090.61 euros).

Still looking at the last month for which data is available – that is, May 2024 – INPS highlights that the largest share of benefits was paid to families with only one child: 3,132,318 families for an average amount of 144 euros. There are 4,221 families with six children, where the average amount per family increases to 1,907 euros. After families with only one child, the largest group is that with two children (2,287,719 families and a monthly amount per applicant of 320 euros).

In the group of beneficiaries where the lowest ISEE valueor – let’s remember, up to 17,090.61 euros for 2024 – in total, an average of 224 euros per child was paid for a total of over four million children, precisely 4,669,284. For 2,235,354 children, the ISEE was not presented and the average amount was 56 euros per child. Instead, in the highest ISEE bracket – set for this year above 45,574.96 euros – there are 180,688 children for an average amount of 57 euros per child.
