In the world of agriculture, we face increasing challenges, especially in dry years when plant growth conditions are difficult, and ultimately the yield suffers. In such years, most often all the mistakes we make are “hidden” by the problem of drought.
To make sure there is no misunderstanding, we agree that the proper distribution of rainfall is crucial for good corn yield results, but we also cannot ignore all the other steps that lead to this (tillage, fertilizing, closing the furrow, sowing time, selection of hybrids…)
We consider ourselves responsible for only one step in the entire process, which is the selection of hybrids, and we are fully dedicated to that. Let’s go in yield analysis of DKC hybrids of corn this year. Among the top 6 hybrids by average yields in over 50 locations, three bear the Field Shield label. We believe that this is not accidental.
You have already experienced and tried the hybrid DKC5092 and you are well aware that it gave solid yields even in the terrible year of 2022. However, he is not the only one, DKC4897 definitely proved himself in 2024 – he has been in the first place in the surrounding countries for a long time, and he is making his way to a high place in terms of results here as well.
In Srem, which had slightly more rainfall, it produced 10 to 12 tons of yield per hectare, in South and Middle Banat and South Bačka with a yield of just over 8 tons, and in the very north of Vojvodina with a yield of 5 tons.
What may be a surprise is that DKC5810 is also in a high place this year in terms of yields. Let’s not forget that he also wears the Field Shield tag. Although this year we could say that it is a later or late hirbid in terms of ripening group, it managed to take advantage of the good start of the year and the rains at the end of May and the beginning of June and achieve excellent yields.
We recommend it, because it has already proven itself in 2023 with over 10 tons per hectare, and in 2024 an average of 8 tons per hectare of dry grain.
To conclude, DKC hybrids with the Field Shield label represent an innovative solution that can significantly improve your production and ensure stable yields even in difficult conditions.
Field Shield technology was developed to provide additional drought resistance. These hybrids are genetically optimized to use water and nutrients from the soil more efficiently, making them an ideal choice for areas with limited resources. Their ability to adapt to changing climatic conditions allows you to rely on stable yields, even when nature does not show its favor.
Also, hybrids with Field Shield technology have exceptional characteristics of initial growth, which allows them to form a strong root system faster. This root system not only enables better water absorption, but also contributes to the stability of plants in difficult conditions. As a result, you can expect stronger and more resistant plants that will cope better with drought.
Sincerely,
Your Bayer team
