How to Ban Phone Scammers in One Move. Report a Spam Call on iPhone in 1 Second

Spam calls are annoying. The only thing annoying is scammers with their pathetic tricks, which I hope fewer and fewer Russians fall for.

Yesterday alone I listened to the reminder four times that “your phone contract expires today.” I’m already running to dictate the code from the SMS, dropping my smartphone.

Both telecom operators and caller ID services from Russian banks and the well-known search giant allow you to complain about fraudulent and spam calls. But to do this, you need to do a lot: open a program or website, search for this function, find the very call there or manually copy-paste the number. Most people do this – laziness.

However, iOS does have a way to instantly ban and complain for any unwanted incoming call directly from the built-in dialer. The complaint will go where you want it to go. And then it’s up to the technology.

I’ll tell you how to enable it on your iPhone and use it.

How to enable quick spam and scam reporting on iPhone

The feature on the iPhone is called Report spam (SMS/calls). For her settings you need:

any iPhone with iOS 17 and newer
application with function support Report spamFor example:
My MTS: Download on App Store
Yandex: Download on App Store

It is best to use this feature in tandem with the activated Caller ID for iOS. We have published instructions on how to enable it on iPhone separately:

Let’s move on to the instructions for enabling quick spam reporting in iOS.

1. On iPhone, open the app Settings. Swipe down to reveal the search bar (if it doesn’t appear immediately).

2. In the search bar that appears at the top, enter the word Telephone. Click on the result Telephonewhich will appear below the search bar.

3. Scroll down the menu to the very bottom. Find the item Report spam (SMS/calls) and click on it.

4. Select the service option through which you will report spam calls and scammers. I recommend choosing the one whose caller ID you have previously installed (if you have installed an ID at all).

I would like to point out that the inclusion of a specific function Report spam does not transmit data about all your incoming calls to the caller ID service. Only the specific (spam) phone number and the time of the call are sent there – and only after you start complaining about it.

Now let’s look at how to use this feature.

How to Report Scams and Spam on iPhone Directly from Phone

Let’s say you receive an unwanted call and you want to complain about it.

Open Phone → Recent. All calls made from your iPhone will be displayed here. Find the one you want to report and swipe it from right to left.

Two buttons will appear. The red one is the one with “trash can” , will delete this call from history. Orange, with hand in gesture “stop” , allows you to report spam. Click the orange one.

The call complaint menu from the service-application you selected earlier will open. This window is different for each:

For example, MTS just asks for confirmation that the complaint has been sent. A Yandex displays a whole survey about the purpose and essence of the call, and also offers to block the number.

I have tested only these two call management services, and of them, for fighting spammers and scammers, I like the option from Yandex. It’s not even about the questionnaire: Yandex allows you to automatically enter a number in Blacklist on iPhone. I hope MTS will also make a similar option.

Honestly, I haven’t seen this feature discussed anywhere on the RuNet, although it’s been around for iPhones for a year. And in vain. Swipe and tap in the built-in Phone app is much more convenient than filing complaints manually.

Use it in good health and tell others. Because the more complaints about spammers, the faster they are banned.
