5 recipes for cleaning your home with ecological detergents

When it comes to self-production and homemade ecological detergents, some very specific ingredients often appear, allies such as lemon and bicarbonate (excellent for degreasing dishes and surfaces),vinegar (ideal for cleaning and removing bad odors), or even Castile and Marseille soap, with a cleaning and sanitizing action.

The list of basic ingredients of natural household detergents also includes essential oils (especially Tea Tree oil) and citric acid, which is very useful in the preparation of anti-limescale and softener products.

If you already have these ingredients available, all you have to do is follow the instructions to clean your home with eco-friendly detergents made with your own hands.

Multipurpose vinegar cleaner

First, we will prepare a multi-surface cleaner combining vinegar and castile soap. This product will be suitable for most surfaces. However, if you have to treat particularly delicate materials, we recommend that you test it on a hidden spot before proceeding on the entire area to be cleaned.

Ingredients

• White vinegar
• Water: one cup

• Lemon and orange peels

• Liquid castile soap: one tablespoon.

Procedure

• Pour the citrus peels into a one-liter glass container and cover completely with vinegar.
• Close the jar and let it rest for 1-2 weeks.
• Strain the resulting liquid, pour half a cup into a liter spray bottle and add a cup of water and castile soap.
• Close the bottle, shake and use the mixture as a normal surface cleaner.

DIY oven and stove cleaner

Per degrease oven and stove you just need to mix 3 ingredients: vinegar, water and castile soap. Let’s see how to proceed.

Ingredients

• A cup of white vinegar
• Water: to taste
• Castile soap: one tablespoon.

Procedure

• Pour vinegar and soap into a one-liter spray bottle.
• Add water up to the edge and shake.
• Then, spray the mixture on the surface to be degreased and leave to act for a few minutes.
• Remove the product using a microfiber cloth moistened with water.

Bicarbonate of soda for peeling

For them surfaces that are more difficult to peelyou could create a paste with water and bicarbonate, a grandmother’s remedy for ecological, easy and infallible cleaning.

Ingredients

• A cup of water
• Bicarbonate: qb

Procedure

• Mix the water with enough baking soda to form a fairly thick paste.
• Apply to the stovetop and leave for a few minutes.
• Remove any residue using a damp microfibre cloth.

Homemade detergents with citric acid

Ingredients

• Citric acid powder: 200 gr
• Distilled water: 1 litre.

Procedure

• Mix the two ingredients in a spray bottle.
• Shake the mixture well to mix everything together.
• Spray on the area to be treated and leave to act for a few minutes.

Ecological detergents with Tea Tree oil to clean the house

Ingredients

• Half a liter of water
• Ecological liquid dish soap: 1 tbsp
• Alcohol: 1 tbsp
• Tea Tree Oil: 15 gocce.

Procedure

In a spray bottle, mix all the ingredients well, shake to mix the mixture and spray on the surfaces to be treated.

Precautions and useful advice

We have seen what some of the most effective ecological detergents are for clean the house without polluting.

Before starting, however, a few small recommendations: remember that “natural” is not always synonymous with “safe”. Some products, such as the vinegar-based cleanerthey may not be suitable for all surfaces.
