WhatsApp is about to become a more powerful option for users who participate in video conferencing or video calling. The application introduces a wide range of background images and filters, which allow users to hide the scenery around them and create a more attractive virtual environment.

Thus, users can choose from ten predefined wallpapers, including “Living Room”, “Beach”, “Forest” or “Sunset”, to give the impression of working from more attractive locations.

Custom video call filters and effects

In addition to wallpapers, WhatsApp also offers special filters like “Warm”, “Cool” and “Vintage TV”, along with “Touch Up” and “Low Light” effect options. These are designed to improve the lighting and general appearance of the user during video calls, useful in both one-on-one sessions and group video conferences.

WhatsApp also introduces Live Translate integration, which allows for real-time translation of conversations with people who speak other languages. This functionality can make communication much easier in professional or personal contexts with people from other cultures.

Although Meta/WhatsApp is entering territory already covered by Microsoft with its suite of “Studio Effects” filters, WhatsApp seems poised to appeal to users who work from home by giving them more control over their virtual environment.
