How to properly take care of your wardrobe?

Company THEY is not only a sales gallery and e-shop representing over fifty independent brands and designers. She also runs her NILAblog, where we learn what she should be like proper care about ours wardrobe. You’ve probably already heard that by properly taking care of your clothes, you can significantly extend their lifespan. However, few people pay enough attention to this problem. It remains important for us that the laundry is clean and fragrant. We ignore the fact that it subsequently loses its color and shape and blame it on poor quality production. Old clothing then we exchange for new ones and count in the statistics that confirm that the average European buys 20 kg and throws away 7.8 kg of clothes every year. It then decomposes in the landfill, and believe me, it is not for a short time. For example, polyester, which is synthetic and is found in almost all textile products today, has been decomposing for more than two hundred years. Natural fibers such as cotton and wool, on the other hand, decompose within five years.

Frequent washing is primarily responsible for the gradual destruction of our clothes. Especially now in the summer months, we are used to throwing clothes into the dirty laundry basket every day, because artificial fabrics are very impermeable and smell bad after a few hours. Due to constant washing clothes we throw them away because they no longer look or feel the same as when we bought them. In this case, it is necessary to realize that the quality of the clothing is directly related to how often we will wash it and how the clothes will react to washing.

There are several recommendations that you should follow when washing clothes. One of them is not to overfill the washing machine. In this case, pressure is exerted on the clothes, which can permanently damage some fibers, resulting in white or grayish maps and lines. There should always be some space left in the drum and it is not enough just to reduce the number of revolutions.

It is necessary to realize that washing is not always a necessary solution. Sometimes it is enough to just air out the clothes. Clothes can be hung on a hanger, use an eco-friendly clothes freshener and let the elements do their work. You might be surprised what wonders the wind or draft can do. You can even make a fragrant eco spray at home. Just mix two cups of water, a teaspoon of baking soda and a few drops of essential oil and put it in a regular spray bottle.

If you only want to remove a small stain from your clothes, just local cleaning is enough. There are many old wives’ tales for traces of red wine, blood, grass, coffee or perfume maps. You can usually find all helpers at home. You can also extend the durability of your clothes by gently washing at 30 degrees and at a maximum reduced speed. Things that have any hooks, embroidery or studs on them should be put in a separate laundry bag. The same is true of tights. Clothing with zippers and buttons should be left on when washing so that it holds its shape even when washed.

A scarecrow that would fashion she should have feared the most were the dryer and chemical processes in dry cleaners. The dryer destroys, deforms and shrinks clothes to the extreme. It even reduces the absorbency of towels. Nothing compares to drying on the dryer outside, on the balcony, in the attic or in the hallway at home.

Apart from washing, ironing does not benefit your clothes either, so always carefully consider whether it is always necessary. Sometimes it is enough to iron clothes only in some necessary places. A great type for gentle ironing is hanging in the bathroom where you shower. Thanks to steam, you can iron clothes practically without work!
