How to update games in a Russian PlayStation account for free from the PS4 version to the PS5 version. Found a solution

As you probably know, access to PSN in Russia is currently closed on Sony consoles, and there is no way to buy new games or download free ones, only use what was previously added to the library.

However, we have found a solution to this problem. Now you can update some of your games on the Russian account from the PS4 version to the PS5 version.

We’ll tell you how this can be done.

What is the problem and how to solve it

It is worth first clarifying what all this is for and what the matter is. PSN is completely closed in Russia. You cannot download anything other than what has been added to the library. This also applies to free patches that update the PS4 version of the game to PS5. Trying to download a patch from a Russian account will result in an error.

I found the solution, it was right there. But first you need to find the transaction codes, which are proof that you bought the game you want to upgrade. Where to look for them:

Open the console’s main menu and go to “Settings”.
Select the Users and Accounts section, then the Account tab.
Select “Payment and subscriptions”, then “Transaction history”.
Set the time period and click “Continue”.
Select the product whose purchase confirmation you want to view.

Once you have found the transaction numbers, then to the mailbox (email protected) you need to write a letter with approximately the following content:

Hello! Please update these games to PS5 version on my account:
– *Game name* *transaction number*

The account is linked to this email. Network ID – *your PSN nickname*

Sony hotline staff (it still functions) they also advise to attach a photo to the letter, which shows the presence of a free update and the error that occurs when trying to download it. Examples of photos can be seen in the screenshot below:

And that’s it. You send such a letter and wait from several hours to several days.

This is not officially advertised anywhere, but technical support responds and manually updates those games that have a free patch. There are a few exceptions, for example, the Fallout 4 update is missing in the Russian PSN, but the games that remained on my Russian account were able to be updated.

Try it yourself and share your results in the comments.
