HPE Builds on Hybrid Cloud Success with Unified Virtualization Management, Rapid Object Storage, and Disconnected Private Cloud

Hewlett Packard Enterprise announced major enhancements to the HPE GreenLake cloud that simplify management across complex, heterogeneous hybrid IT environments and enable customers to increase agility and innovation.

Fidelma Russo, Vice President, General Manager and CTO of HPE Hybrid Cloud, said: “To realize the full potential of hybrid cloud and AI, businesses need a hybrid design approach. Today, we’re proud to announce the most complete HPE GreenLake portfolio to date. “With these new solutions, the HPE GreenLake cloud delivers a future-proof cloud operating model for virtualized, cloud-native and AI workloads.”

HPE VM Essentials reduces complexity and cost of virtualized workloads

The recent acquisition of Morpheus Data has enabled HPE GreenLake cloud customers to further consolidate and simplify their IT operations. HPE VM Essentials represents the first step in introducing Morpheus across the HPE portfolio. Customers will thus have the flexibility to manage existing virtualized workloads or rebuild the platform on the HPE VME hypervisor, while experiencing a simple virtual machine automation experience across both stacks.

Reduce costs with HPE’s embedded KVM-based hypervisor: HPE VM Essentials reduces costs for customers with cost-effective per-socket pricing, brownfield VM discovery, and built-in support for VM-as-a-service.
Simplify management by integrating existing workloads: In addition to converting a base VM image to HPE VM Essentials, the software can integrate customers’ existing hypervisor clusters to enable VM workloads and kernel-based virtual machines (KVM) to be managed and serviced from one simple interface.
Future-proof IT assets with flexible delivery and upgrade options: HPE VM Essentials will be available as standalone software and integrated into HPE Private Cloud solutions. Customers can also upgrade to the full Morpheus PlatformOps to gain comprehensive hybrid cloud management, governance and cost management capabilities.
HPE VM Essentials is supported by HPE’s global support network and ecosystem of independent software vendors. Cohesity, the leader in AI-powered data security, and Commvault, the leader in cyber resiliency and data protection solutions for hybrid cloud, support HPE VM Essentials by providing VM backup and recovery services.

“HPE VM Essentials offers a true alternative to the status quo,” said Chris Macken, Vice President of IT Operations and Security at Cambrian Credit Union. “We can streamline our business for operational and resource efficiency through support for our existing hypervisor and the flexible ways it provides for future workloads.”

New fast object storage delivers exceptional performance and massive scalability

The new HPE Alletra Storage MP X10000 object storage is designed for exabyte scale and optimized to enable businesses to store and retrieve object data faster. The exceptional performance of the X10000 provides the ideal environment for high-speed data lakes and modern data protection. With this new offering, HPE further simplifies storage management with a single disaggregated architecture for block, file, and object storage and intuitive cloud management of the HPE GreenLake cloud.

Access object data faster at scale: All-flash fast object storage uses HPE’s disaggregated, shared MP storage architecture. This allows businesses to scale capacity and performance independently. The X10000 carries HPE’s new simplified branding, along with the HPE Alletra Storage MP B10000, previously known as HPE GreenLake for Block Storage.
Recover your data quickly with modern data protection: The X10000 offers massive restore bandwidth for faster data restoration for rapid backup and recovery of mission-critical applications. The S3-compatible object storage interface and deduplication support up to 20x data reduction and facilitate integration with any backup solution. The X10000 is certified for backup by industry-leading vendors such as Commvault and Veeam®. The validation process continues for other leading suppliers.
HPE is collaborating with NVIDIA to provide a direct data path for direct memory access (DMA) transfers between GPU memory, system memory, and the X10000, which are critical for AI applications. This linear path will further increase system bandwidth, reduce latency, and improve GPU utilization.

Disconnected management delivers cloud experience for regulated environments

As AI innovation accelerates, data has become even more vital to national security and economic competitiveness. Many countries, cities, healthcare organizations, infrastructure providers, and research laboratories want a cloud operating model without exposing sensitive data or IP to open networks. HPE is addressing these challenges with the new HPE Private Cloud Enterprise Disconnected and HPE Alletra Storage MP Disconnected. These disconnected private cloud and block storage solutions provide a comprehensive cloud experience with disconnected management.

Authorized HPE Partner Ready Vantage partners will be able to deliver sovereign private cloud services powered by HPE GreenLake. Starting in Europe, partners will be able to build sovereign cloud capabilities that meet local, regional and industry-specific regulations. Partners can earn the HPE Sovereign competency, which demonstrates expertise in using the HPE GreenLake cloud to deliver secure private clouds in a hosted environment or in customers’ own data centers.

HPE expands AI ecosystem with new partners and use cases

AI represents a complex hybrid workload that is difficult and expensive for businesses to deploy and scale. In September, HPE announced the Unleash AI program to accelerate time to value for enterprise customers through validated solutions for HPE Private Cloud AI. HPE also added six new partners to Unleash AI: Codeium, Contextual.AI, Dataiku, IronYun, Securiti, and Writer. These partners will enable a variety of high-value use cases, including AI-powered software development, advanced RAG (retrieval-augmented generation), intelligent video analytics, and solutions for building safe and secure GenAI systems.
