HTC Vive Focus Vision: Expensive VR headset for gaming enthusiasts and companies introduced

VR-Headset

With the Vive Focus Vision, HTC is launching a new VR headset that is aimed particularly at enthusiasts – not least because of the price.

HTC created one of the higher quality – and above all, high-priced – products a few years ago with the VR headset called Vive. Now, with the “Vive Focus Vision” a new option: As the company explains in a press release, the new VR headset is now available for pre-order for a price of 1,200 euros.

Inside the HTC Vive Focus Vision is the Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2, which in this form also serves as the processor in the much cheaper Meta Quest 3. In addition, the HTC headset has twelve gigabytes of RAM and 128 gigabytes of internal capacity, which can be expanded using a microSD memory card if required.

The displays are two LCD screens, each with a resolution of 2,448 x 2,448 pixels. In standalone operation, the HTC Vive Focus Vision has a refresh rate of 90 Hertz; if a powerful computer is connected via a DisplayPort cable, the frequency increases to 120 Hertz. The manufacturer says the field of view is 120 degrees. There are also two cameras with 16-megapixel resolution integrated on the sides, which are supposed to give users a “particularly clear view” of their surroundings in augmented reality or passthrough mode.

The infrared lights of the HTC Vive Focus Vision are designed to ensure that the tracking of the entire body as well as the eye and mouth tracking work even in low light conditions. A special point is the additional battery in the headset, which can replace the main battery if necessary without the headset having to be switched off. The first deliveries of the HTC Vive Focus Vision are scheduled to begin in early October.
