The Huawei Mate 70 Pro+ and Mate 70 RS it’s official, and it’s not just a fancier version of the Mate 70 Pro, with bigger batteries, more premium materials, and more RAM.
Μate 70 Pro+
The Mate 70 Pro+ has a back panel that is a mix of gold threads and brocade fibers. The material is very durable, while the embossed surface captures the light in dazzling stars that shine brightly.
The frame is made of titanium alloy which Huawei calls high brightness basalt, a material that is very strong as well as resistant to scratches and drops. The body is also IP69 certified.
The display is a 6.9-inch 2832x1316px LTPO 120Hz OLED with 2,500 nits peak brightness and second-generation Kunlun glass on top. The display incorporates a 3D face scanner, while the fingerprint scanner is now located on the side of the phone.
The Mate 70 Pro+ is said to use a Kirin 9100 chipset, consisting of Cortex cores. The SoC is rumored to be a 6nm unit and uses a Cortex-X1 core (at 2.67GHz), Cortex-A78 cores (at 2.32GHz) and Cortex-A55 cores (at 2.02GHz). The Mate 70 Pro+ packs 16GB of RAM as standard. It features Ark Engine for overall smoothness and performance.
On the back is a 50MP RYYB main sensor with a 24mm variable aperture lens. f/1.4-f/4.0. Next to it there is a 13mm ultrawide. f/2.2 with 40MP RYYB sensor, a 4×92.5mm telephoto lens; f/2.1 with close focusing capabilities and a 48MP RYYB sensor. All cameras have autofocus. Up front is a 13MP f/2.4 selfie snapper.
Finally, the Mate 70 Pro+ has a 5,700mAh battery with 100W wired charging and 80W wireless charging.
Mate 70 RS
The Huawei Mate 70 RS also comes with “high brightness titanium”, but also adds a better screen and glass. The display has the same 6.9-inch diagonal, 120 Hz LTPO technology and FHD+ resolution, but it is a double-layer OLED that achieves a higher maximum brightness of 3,500 nits. It is also covered with stronger “Kunlun glass with basalt”.
The rest of the Mate 70 RS specs match the 70 Pro+ – 5,700mAh battery, 16GB RAM, 512GB or 1TB storage, triple rear camera system. Both phones run HarmonyOS 4.3 and feature Baidu Satellite Connectivity.
The Mate 70 Pro+ is available in four colors – Ink Black, Feather White, Gold and Silver Brocade and Flying Blue – and two configurations – 16/512GB and 16GB/1TB. Prices are CNY 8,499 (€1,120) and CNY 9,499 (€1,250).
The Mate 70 RS is available in red, white and black and in 16/512GB or 16GB/1TB. Prices are CNY 11,999 (€1,580) and CNY 12,999 (€1,710).
Both phones are available for pre-order today in China, and shipments begin on December 19. Huawei has not said anything about any global availability of the series.
