Huawei Mate 70 smartphones presented completely without Android

Huawei has announced a new line of Mate 70 smartphones. These are the first devices that will run on its own HarmonyOS Next operating system in China.

This OS does not include Google components or services. And Android applications do not run on it. The company expects to be able to compete with Android and iOS. The Mate 70, Mate 70 Pro, Mate 70 Pro Plus and Mate 70 RS will also be offered with HarmonyOS 4.3 with support for Android apps.

There is also not a single American component in the gadgets.

The company says HarmonyOS Next currently supports 15,000 apps. And in the coming months there will be about 100 thousand of them. From 2025, all gadgets will be produced on this OS.

The base Huawei Mate 70 features a 6.7-inch display with up to 120Hz refresh rate, a 5,300mAh battery, 66W fast charging via USB-C cable, and up to 50W wireless charging. It has a 50-megapixel main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), a 12-megapixel telephoto camera with OIS, a 40-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle selfie camera.

Costs from $760 (this is the version with 12/256 GB of memory).

Huawei Mate 70 Pro supports Wi-Fi 7, satellite connectivity, faster charging, a larger screen, 48 MP telephoto and AI-powered photography features. Costs from $900.

Huawei Mate 70 Pro Plus has improved camera sensors. This model offers up to 16GB/1TB of storage. Costs $1175.

Finally, the Huawei Mate70 RS offers all the features of the Mate 70 Pro Plus, but its body is made of titanium. Costs $1657.
