Huawei had a busy schedule today, making several new device announcements, but something that made a very positive impression was the MatePad Pro 13.2 (2024), which is almost indistinguishable from the MatePad Pro 13.2 from late 2023.
As the name aptly suggests, the slate features a flexible 13.2-inch 2880×1920 px OLED display with 1,000 nits brightness and 144 Hz refresh rate. There are apparently two variants for sale – a regular (presumably glossy) version and the so-called Clear Soft Light Screen version. It features an optical film on top, which uses a nano-magnetic optical coating process and nano-etching technology to diffuse reflections and reduce glare.
On the comfortable MatePad Pro 13.2, the screen has a notch at the top in a horizontal position. The large screen supports up to 4 apps simultaneously in multi-window mode with aspect ratio adjustment.
The tablet also supports the Smart Magnetic Keyboard and the 3rd generation M Pencil for typing and drawing on the go, so you can edit documents, draw images, add annotations, make conference calls, in short the Matepad Pro 13.2 (2024) can do it all. When it comes to artificial intelligence, το HarmonyOS NEXT (based on HarmonyOS 4.3) features the smart assistant Xiaoyi based on the large Pangu model for natural conversations and AI help with tasks.
Users can combine typed and handwritten notes and use AI for proofreading and summarizing.
Huawei kept the chipset well-hidden, but since the old model used the Kirin 9000S, the new one could use the rumored Kirin 9100 or the recently discovered Kirin 9020. Huawei said the 2024 model has 30% better performance. heat from the previous generation.
As estimated net weight, the MatePad Pro 13.2 (2024) weighs 580 grams and is 5.5mm thick. Although so thin, it has six speakers and a fingerprint scanner on the side. For cameras, there’s a 50MP f/1.8 primary unit on the back, fitted alongside an 8MP f/2.2 ultra-wide lens. Up front is a 16MP f/2.2 fixed focus unit.
The 10,100 mAh battery can charge from 0% to 80% in 40 minutes.
The MatePad Pro 13.2 (2024) is available in two versions – the regular display model in 12/256GB or 12/512GB and the Soft Light Edition (with the non-reflective display) in 12/256GB, 12/512GB and 16GB / 1TB.
For the regular model, the price starts at CNY 5,199 (€680, INR 60,500) and will ship before December 15. Pre-order of the Soft Light Edition will begin on December 12, starting at CNY 5,799 (€760, INR 67,500).
