Huawei has an extremely rich portfolio of smartwatches and bands that suit the tastes and financial capabilities of many users. However, the manufacturer is probably most proud of models such as Huawei Watch Ultimate Green, which competes with the best offers of the largest competitors. Just look at it to immediately see that we are dealing with a premium smartwatch, and probably its greatest advantage is the design itself. If a smartwatch retains all its most important features and functions, and at the same time looks great and can easily be confused with a classic premium watch, then in my opinion it is a perfect device. Is Huawei Watch Ultimate Green like that? There are many indications of this, but there are things you should know before buying it and spending almost PLN 3.5 thousand.

For many years, Huawei has been surprising us with its wearable devices. The models I tested repeatedly turned out to be big surprises, which confirmed the decisions of many customers, so I was very curious whether Huawei Watch Ultimate Green would also make such an impression on me. The box itself and the way of packaging make it clear from the very beginning what type of smartwatch we are dealing with – everything resembles premium watches from classic brands, so people who decide to buy this device will not be disappointed.
When you take the smartwatch in your hand, you immediately notice the materials used, i.e. a metal case, a ceramic frame and a screen covered with sapphire glass. The smartwatch is not as heavy as it may look, but it feels good on the wrist. The set includes as many as three straps to choose from, so regardless of the occasion and what outfit we want to match it to, the Huawei Watch Ultimate Green will be ready for it from the moment of unpacking, without unnecessary searching in stores and buying accessories.
Of course, we will have the most contact with the screen, which is enclosed in a 48 mm envelope. It’s a 1.5-inch AMOLED display and, as expected, everything shown on it is always easy to read and pleasing to the eye. Color saturation, contrast and brightness give the impression of a premium mini-TV, but on our wrist – reading text messages and other notifications, post-workout statistics or weather forecasts is trouble-free in all conditions. Quick shortcuts and the main menu, just like the settings, are still a very intuitive environment that can be operated by any user, even those less technically advanced. Navigation is intuitive and efficient, and everyone will probably be impressed by the list of sports modes, which contains over 100 items. There is probably everything you can dream of here, and the main advantage will naturally be golf support, because the manufacturer even offers maps of golf courses around the world for planning and executing the game. Huawei Watch Ultimate Green also constantly monitors parameters such as heart rate and blood saturation, and will even perform an ECG upon request. At night, our sleep is analyzed, including the quality of breathing, and everything is reported to us in the morning.
You could say that if the competition offers the same thing, what could Huawei Watch Ultimate Green stand out from? The biggest advantage of the watch will be the battery life, because even using sports modes and constant monitoring of vital functions does not mean that the Huaweia smartwatch will quickly fail. We’re talking about 8 or even 10 days of using the watch without charging, so you can not only go away without a charger for the weekend, but also for a short vacation. This is quite impressive and may be the biggest advantage compared to the most important rivals from Apple or Samsung, and truth be told, it should already be a standard, especially since manufacturers are increasingly relying on a duo of their own hardware and software.
The latter, in the case of Huawei Watch Ultimate Green, is also an advantage due to the convenient handling of notifications – we can answer voice calls and talk through the watch (the loudspeaker is surprisingly loud, and the microphone picks up voice well, even if we do not bring the smartwatch close to our mouth), while responding to messages is possible thanks to the on-screen keyboard. This one is, of course, relatively small in size, but entering short content is done efficiently, and you can also use response templates.
Among the disadvantages, it is easy to notice some limitations, which will be very important for some people. While the absence of the Huawei Health application in Google Play is easy to overcome (we download the installation file from the Internet or install the App Gallery), the lack of integration with Google Fit will bother some people, because the lack of a central hub for health data is noticeable. If someone uses several accessories or devices, or changes platforms or ecosystems, they are left with no history at all. Another issue is contactless payments, which were announced relatively recently with great fanfare. Currently, they are available even to iPhone users, but they do not work as efficiently as Google Pay or Apple Pay because they require a) installing an additional Quicko application, b) feeding the card with funds, and c) constant connection of the smartphone to the watch. This may make a difference for Huawei watch owners, but potential customers may not be interested in additional steps.
Huawei Watch Ultimate Green – for whom?
Huawei Watch Ultimate Green looks great, and on the wrist it looks very impressive and eye-catching. In everyday use, it is very comfortable, and its versatility is visible at every step: whether in the context of cooperation with a smartphone or in the operation and fitness functions. For a certain group of users, it will be an ideal device, because no one else offers a combination of such a versatile smartwatch with such an elegant appearance.
However, it seems to me that this group will be quite narrow, because – firstly – many customers choose a smartwatch from the same company as the smartphone, so Huawei is often not in the best position in such circumstances, and secondly, Huawei Watch Ultimate Green is one of the more expensive proposals, addressed to a specific recipient. But will those who can afford it just like that be willing to make some concessions?
