Huge drop in production in “Forests of the RS”

SOKOLAC – The public company “Šume Srpska” in the period from January 1 to October 15 this year achieved only 66 percent of the annual production plan, it reveals CAPITAL.

According to the data from “Forest of the RS” obtained by our portal, no forest farm has fulfilled the production plan in the specified period.

From “Šuma Srpska” they admit that the realized felling for the nine months of 2024 is 15 percent less than planned, the export by 10 percent, and the shipping by 19 percent, but that compared to the same period last year, both the felling and the export are higher, while shipment is at last year’s level.

“This delay compared to the plan was due to a delay in the realization of lower value assortments. In order to replace it by the end of the year, it is necessary to find a market for lower value assortments with the condition that the weather conditions in the last three months will be favorable without major snowfalls”it is stated in the answer of Šuma Srpske to our questions.

“Suma Srpska” says that six organizational units had a shift in production for the first three quarters.

“Ten organizational parts achieved production in the range of 80 to 99 percent, five achieved production from 70 to 79 percent, and seven organizational parts had production below 70 percent,” it is stated in the answer to our questions.

They further say that it is necessary that in the fourth quarter, all phases of production – felling and production, attraction and realization should be carried out over 30 percent of the planned annual works in order for the public company to operate positively at the end of the year.

“Here, first of all, we mean the realization of forest wood assortments, which falls short of the annual plan with 36 index points”, it is stated in the answer of “Suma Srpska”, which practically admits that this public company will have a hard time going green by the end of this year.

And that it will be difficult to improve the business result in the fourth quarter is shown by the data obtained by our portal, which say that all organizational parts for the first 15 days of October experienced a drop in production. The biggest failure was the Center for Karst Management, which realized only 23 percent of production compared to the annual plan.

ŠG “Panos” failed the most

When it comes to forest farms, ŠG “Panos” Višegrad has the worst result, which fulfilled only 41 percent of the plan. It is interesting that the director of this farm, Jelena Suslovski, together with all the employees, recently filed a lawsuit against “Šuma RS” for unpaid wages.

After “Panos”, the worst result is obtained by ŠG “Rudo” (42 percent), “Botin” Nevesinje (45 percent), “Birač” Vlasenica (47 percent) and “Zelengora” Kalinovik, which threw up to 50 percent of the annual production plan.

Other forest farms achieved the plan in the percentage of 51 percent, which was achieved by ŠG “Doboj” to 83 percent of the total annual production plan, which was achieved by ŠG “Maglić” Foča until October 15.

In addition to “Maglić”, only ŠG “Čemernica” from Kneževo achieved more than 80 percent or more precisely 81 percent of the total annual plan. However, these two forest farms also failed, because they achieved 96 percent of the production planned for the period from January 1 to October 15. This practically means that in the next two and a half months they will have to settle for four percent of the production that they failed to achieve in the said period.

As for the other farms, the current results show that only a few of them may be able to implement the production plan by the end of the year, and that if the weather conditions are in their favor. These are “Visočnik” Han Pijesak, which achieved 77 percent of the annual plan by October 15, then “Jahorina” Pale with 76 percent, and “Romanija” Sokolac (74 percent) and perhaps “Prijedor” (73 percent), “Sjemeć” Rogatica (72 percent) and “Borja” Teslić with 71 percent.

Other forest farms achieved less than 70 percent of the planned production and there is little chance that they will be able to settle the backlog and fulfill the annual production plan by the end of the year.

According to the “Forest of RS” plan this year, the production of 2,023,304 cubic meters of forest wood assortments is planned, and by the end of September, 1,335,645 cubic meters or 66 percent were produced. This means that by the end of the year they should realize almost another 700,000 cubic meters, and considering the huge drop in demand, the serious amount of stocks of forest wood assortments that are already waiting for customers, as well as the huge increase in costs caused by the increase in the minimum, “Šume Srpska” will to end the year in the red for sure.
