Hundreds of Thousands of Wuling Models Have Been Produced in Indonesia

DAPURPACUID – PT SGMW Motor Indonesia celebrated the achievement of producing 160,000 vehicles for various Wuling products from its factory in Cikarang, West Java, Wednesday (27/11).

Along with this momentum, it also marks the export debut of one of Wuling EV ABC Stories products, Cloud EV, to the automotive market in the ASEAN region.

For information, the Wuling Cikarang factory started operations in July 2017, and has produced nine model lines from both the ICE and electric vehicle segments.

The model line starts from Confero, Cortez, Almaz, Alvez and Almaz Hybrid. Including Low Commercial Vehicle (LCV), Formo and Formo Max series. Followed by the electric cars Air EV, BinguoEV, and Cloud EV.

These various product lines are designed to meet consumer needs by prioritizing a combination of technology, high quality and competitive prices.

President Director of SAIC-GM-Wuling Automobile Co., Ltd, Lv Juncheng said, this production number reflects the efforts and exploration of SGMW’s global partners in pursuing the vision of ‘Building for the future and expanding to international markets’.

He emphasized that this is also proof of close cooperation and coordination between the Chinese and Indonesian governments as pioneers of manufacturing expansion overseas.

“As a manufacturer, SGMW will carry out a global transition towards electrification and digitalization, including accelerating the improvement of electrification product lines in the country,” explained Juncheng, in his official broadcast, Thursday (28/11).

“This includes building a new energy industry and service ecosystem and ensuring the benefits of new energy vehicles can be enjoyed by Indonesian consumers,” he added.

In its journey, Wuling is claimed to have contributed positively to the automotive industry in Indonesia thanks to the support of high-quality manufacturing, an integrated supply chain, a network of 150 dealers, financing companies and involving domestic workers.

On the other hand, Wuling also supports the development of supporting infrastructure (SPKLU), involves local industrial players in the supply chain and provides training for workers.

Juncheng said, through the transformation of ‘Electrification and digitalization’ in Indonesia, his party hopes to build a new automotive industrial chain in Indonesia.

“This makes Wuling Indonesia the center of the new energy vehicle industry which serves the Indonesian, ASEAN and world markets, while providing strong industrial support,” he said.

In the future, Wuling has targeted Indonesia to become a production center for right-hand drive vehicles targeting the ASEAN region and international markets.

This step not only strengthens Wuling’s position in the Indonesian automotive sector, but also makes Indonesia a center for the expansion of electricity-based products.

Director-General of Guangxi Commerce Dept., Yang Chunting hopes that SGMW Motor Indonesia can continue to focus on the target of ‘rooting in Indonesia, reaching Southeast Asia’.

“By presenting the best-selling vehicle models, expanding product lines, encouraging local supply of important components such as batteries and drive motors, actively participating in the preparation of new energy vehicle standards, and opening up more markets for right-hand drive vehicles,” he added.

“In this way, companies can contribute to realizing the development of a shared future community (China-Indonesia), through the principles of mutual benefit and developing together,” concluded Chunting. (dpid/TH)
