Hurricane Helena. Authorities admit that “there could be up to 600 lives lost”

Hurricane Helena left a trail of destruction on the east coast of the United States of America.

In the last balance, the country’s Homeland Security advisor, Liz Sherwood-Randall pointed to an estimate of 600 dead.

“The current data we have indicates that there could be up to 600 lives lost,” declared Sherwood-Randall, noting that this is a number that has not yet been confirmed.

This number corresponds to the number of people who remain missing.

Until this Monday, the number of deaths recorded exceeded 100 people, but it is expected that this number will continue to increase in the coming days.

“Post-Apocalyptic” Scenario

Hurricane Helena made landfall on Florida’s Gulf Coast on Thursday night and then moved north through Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Virginia, North and South Carolina,

The most affected areas are Florida and North Carolina. In this last territory, the setting is described as “post-apocalyptic”.

Starlink supports in affected areas

The White House declared this Monday that Dozens of Starlink satellite systems capable of providing high-speed Internet access were being used in North Carolinaand another 100 were in transit to areas devastated by Hurricane Helena.

The announcement came shortly after former President Donald Trump claimed to have spoken with billionaire Elon Musk about setting up Internet access, falsely claiming that the systems were not yet in place.

“I just spoke to Elon,” Trump said. “We want to activate Starlink because people don’t have any communication.” Trump added: “We’re going to try to get Starlink there as quickly as possible.”
