Hyundai announces updates for Ioniq 5 N. The performance electric gets a configurable drift mode

Hyundai unveiled the most powerful version of the Ioniq 5 about a year ago. Now, the Korean manufacturer is announcing improvements to the performance electrics.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N is entering its second year of sales and is getting some major updates right in its home country. right Engine1there are no cosmetic changes as most of the work has revolved around improving the software to provide a more enjoyable driving experience.

N Drift Optimizer, the program that helps the Ioniq 5 N during controlled drifts, can now be configured by choosing one of 10 available assistance levels. If you select gear 10 (Pro), the electric model acquires a clear oversteer behavior, for spectacular drifts. In addition, the system can now better detect the right drifting conditions, which Hyundai assumes will only be on a race track.

There is also something called Downshift Memory. Intended for circuit use, this feature “allows the vehicle to memorize commands without shifting gears and to shift gears when the vehicle reaches optimal gearshift speeds.” We can see it as a safeguard so that, like a heat engine, we don’t accidentally downgrade.

In addition, the artificial engine sound is automatically turned on when the Launch Control function is activated. This N Active Sound+ simulates the sound of a 2.0 liter turbo petrol engine like the one fitted to the Elantra N.

In addition to these updates aimed at improving the driving experience, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N also receives some new features in terms of safety and ease of use. For example, cars will now automatically lock when the driver moves a certain distance away, and the Vehicle 2 Load feature becomes available.
