Hyundai Motor Group is preparing several more electric models that will use their E-GMP platform for electric vehicles.
One of them is a new electric crossover with three rows of seats arriving at the end of this year, which is assumed to be the production version of the 2021 Hyundai Seven concept (pictured).
It should be recalled that the concept had a range of more than 300 miles (483 km), as well as a charging time of up to 80% of battery capacity of about 20 minutes.
Compared to the aforementioned concept with a wheelbase of 3200 mm, the production Hyundai model (called Ioniq 7 or Ioniq 9) will receive a refined exterior and a modified interior, with space for two passengers in the front, three in the middle and two in the back.
With the serial model, two versions will most likely be available; one with rear-wheel drive and the other with four-wheel drive and two electric motors.
As for Hyundai’s luxury Genesis brand, the emphasis in the coming period will be on hybrids.
Genesis global director Mike Song confirmed plans to apply hybrid technology to “as many models as possible” before the brand goes the all-electric route later in the future.
Genesis originally committed to launching only electric vehicles starting in 2025, but this strategy has now been readjusted to include hybrids.
Song acknowledged that “customers now want hybrids more than EVs,” prompting Genesis to bring hybrid technology to market “as soon as possible” and apply it to “as many models as possible.”
