Hyundai has created a special fire extinguisher that punctures electric car batteries

Hyundai is determined to solve the issue of electric vehicle fires. That’s why it introduced a new firefighting tool, called the EV Drill Lance, to be used on its electric car carriers.

The tool is designed to put out EV fires by drilling into the bottom of them to reach the battery, then spraying water directly through the battery pack.

According to Hyundai, the EV Drill Lance can penetrate the vehicle’s underbody and battery pack within two minutes.

Once the water starts spraying into the battery pack it can extinguish the fire in 30 minutes. That’s much faster than the several hours (or even days) it usually takes to put out an electric car fire.
