The handover ceremony held at the WFP Dubai vehicle base in the United Arab Emirates was attended by Hang-soo Lee, Executive Director of Hyundai Motor Company, Hyun-sook Huh, Executive Director of WFP Government Donors Sara Adam, and Stephen Anderson, Head of WFP Middle East Regional Headquarters.
WFP is a food aid organization established for the purpose of eradicating hunger in developing countries, and is a United Nations organization that strives to create a world without hunger by 2030 and to realize ‘Zero Hunger’ (1), where no one goes hungry.
Last July, Hyundai Motor Company and WFP helped transition UN work vehicles to eco-friendly mobility with the participation of Hyundai Motor Company President Jang Jae-hoon and WFP Secretary-General Cindy McCain, and supported the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) ( We signed a partnership in the mobility sector to achieve 2) together.
This vehicle delivery ceremony is the first official event since the partnership concluded in July, and Hyundai Motor Company will deliver one vehicle each to the WFP Rome headquarters, as well as global offices in Egypt, Panama, South Africa, the Philippines, and Thailand, and two vehicles to the vehicle base located in the United Arab Emirates. Ioniq 5 was donated as a mobile and work vehicle.
