Hyundai Motor Group announced on the 15th that it has conducted personnel reshuffling of its CEO and president in 2024 to effectively respond to the uncertain global business environment and establish a foundation for sustainable future growth.
In order to fundamentally improve the structure of the finished car business and strengthen future competitiveness, Hyundai Motor Group plans to promote and appoint President Jang Jae-hoon, CEO of Hyundai Motor Company, to vice chairman in charge of finished cars (effective January 1, 2025).
Since Vice Chairman Jang Jae-hoon took office as CEO of Hyundai Motor Company at the end of 2020, he has implemented aggressive business strategies, agile market response, and improved profitability in various ways even in a more complex and uncertain business environment than ever before, such as expanding geopolitical risks, changes in product/technology paradigms, and pandemics. Through activities, etc., the company achieved its highest performance since its founding. In addition, it is evaluated that it has succeeded in establishing a foundation for strengthening Hyundai Motor Company’s mid- to long-term competitiveness, including leading the hydrogen initiative and succeeding in the Indian IPO.
In order to continue to advance its global management system and secure customer-centered mobility leadership, Hyundai Motor Company plans to appoint President Jose Muñoz, Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Head of North American Regional Headquarters, as its new CEO.
Since joining Hyundai Motor Company as Global Chief Operating Officer (GCOO) and in charge of the Americas region in 2019, President Jose Muñoz has successively achieved the best performance in North America by strengthening dealer competitiveness and conducting profitability-focused management activities.
In order to effectively respond to the global economic and security crisis, Sung Kim, an advisor to Hyundai Motor Company, will be recruited and appointed as president of the group’s think tank.
President Sung Kim is a former U.S. diplomatic official and top expert who is well-versed in the international situation, including East Asia and the Korean Peninsula, and has held several key positions from the Bush administration to the Obama, Trump, and Biden administrations.
In recognition of their contributions to achieving excellent business performance and improving business and organizational structure from a mid- to long-term perspective, Vice President Choi Jun-young, in charge of domestic production at Kia and Chief Safety and Health Officer (CSO), and Vice President Gyu-bok Lee, CEO of Hyundai Glovis, were promoted to president, respectively.
In order to secure future competitiveness by strengthening management and accelerating business transformation, Hyundai Transys Vice President Baek Cheol-seung and Hyundai Kefico Vice President Oh Jun-dong were appointed as CEO, respectively.
In order to overcome the crisis caused by the recession in the construction industry and accelerate fundamental improvement, Hyundai Engineering & Construction Vice President Lee Han-woo and Hyundai Engineering President Joo Woo-jeong were appointed as CEO, respectively.
Vice President Joo Woo-jeong (head of Kia’s finance division) was promoted and appointed as CEO of Hyundai Engineering.
Meanwhile, Hyundai Transys Yeosu-dong President, Hyundai Kefico Vice President Yoo Young-jong, Hyundai Engineering & Construction President Yoon Young-jun, and Hyundai Engineering Vice President Hong Hyun-seong are scheduled to be appointed as advisors and advisers.
