Hyundai RN24 Concept – Autoblog.gr

The RN24 Concept was presented by Hyundai, which according to the company is not a simple prototype, but a mobile laboratory. The prototype features the Ioniq 5 N’s electric drivetrain and a new 84kWh battery housed in a tubular frame, with body panels conspicuous by their absence.

The chassis is comparable to that of the WRC’s Hyundai i20 N Rally1 Hybrid, with the wheelbase shortened by 34cm compared to the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N.

The Hyundai RN24 Concept weighs 1,880 kg, almost 400 kg less than the Ioniq 5 N, and produces 650 hp. From a standstill it accelerates to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds and its top speed is 240 km/h.

The sophisticated “go-kart” – as much as one can describe a car weighing almost 2 tons as a kart – is four-wheel drive with intelligent distribution of torque to all four wheels. The handbrake comes from the Hyundai i20 N Rally1 Hybrid of the WRC and the spoiler from the company’s TCR racing models.

It wears 19″ matte black forged wheels sourced from the Elantra N and features WRC’s Powertrain Drive Control Logic system, allowing the driver to use steering wheel-mounted buttons to adjust the power delivered by the electric motors. In addition, there are settings to adjust the power balance between the two axles. The driver can also modify the level of sensitivity for acceleration and the energy recovery system when braking.

The engine’s electronic torque control mimics the mechanical setup of the i20 N Rally1, with an exclusive Rally Mode mirroring the racer’s four-wheel drive system, distributing torque to all four wheels.
