VOLLEYBALLERS of Serbia opened the Olympic Games well, as they defeated France with a maximum score of 3:0. Impressions after the match were expressed by coach Giovanni Guidetti.
He pointed out that the fans still haven’t seen the best of Serbia.
– I think we didn’t play our best volleyball, there are many factors for that, one is the atmosphere… The start was very good, for some players this was the first match at the Olympic Games. It is never easy to win the first match with 3:0. We weren’t as relaxed as we should have been and we didn’t show the best Serbia, but good. The first match, we scored three points, did what we needed to do and we are looking towards the next two matches – said Guideti.
Not all players got the chance, but the Italian expert knows what he’s doing.
– I didn’t give a chance to anyone who it’s not time to give a chance. I put in the effort. I believe that the players can make the team better, they had a great summer and they deserve to start. I have great players on the bench, who have trained well and are ready to help the team. The way we train all summer, we basically combine with female players, because we have a lot of high-level players and I didn’t have to change a lot, but I believe that from the next match we will probably make some substitutions. You saw the United States and Turkey, they won a match with many changes. It’s a long tournament, we have to have all the players. I am happy that we have a very strong team.
The next rival of our volleyball players is the current Olympic champion, the USA team.
– A very, very difficult match. America played great this Monday, a very good level of volleyball, a lot of strength. We have to play very well, better than against France – concluded Guideti.
