The other day they asked what this thing is attached to my iPhone. I’ve been wanting to briefly share my impressions here for a long time; I thought it was a hint.
I’m a fan of the MagSafe ecosystem, so I have an interest in a variety of accessories that support it. But I’ve never bought one specific one before: just a stand. And there are many of them on the market.
When I picked up an interesting, but slightly overpriced case for AirPods from the Chinese company Aulumu, I also grabbed their MagSafe stand. It’s been about six months since I’ve been wearing it, I’ll briefly tell you the pros and cons.
What kind of stand is Aulumu?
Magnetic docking stand G05 from the Aulumu brand. There’s not much to say about them: they’re Chinese who make accessories for Apple gadgets claiming premium design in a futuristic, slightly cyberpunk style.
The name hints at aluminum, and here everything is exactly like that: the entire body and structure are made of aluminum, which is always a plus and just nice. I bought the white version, there is also a black one (supposedly anodized).
G05 magnetically attaches to the MagSafe ring of iPhones or cases with a force that would make Apple’s original “puck” jealous. I’ve never seen it on Chinese accessories. such a killer magnet.
By the way, the kit includes three more self-adhesive rings of the same top quality – this is if you don’t have a magnet in the case, or you want to use such a stand with old iPhones without standard support.
Can be used even with Android. By the way, I brought it on board without any questions
On the magnetic ring there is a rotating leg that rotates 360 degrees in the main plane. This is how the fidget turns out. Let’s write it down as a plus, sometimes I turn this thing on and don’t even notice it.
There is an automatic lock inside the rotating mechanism. The leg itself bends approximately 90 degrees from the body. That is, you have complete freedom to place the iPhone in any position.
An unusual feature of the stand – tiny ceramic knife. If you pull the slider button, it will extend – just a little, literally a few millimeters (for safety). According to Aulumu, this will be enough to open parcels. I really didn’t believe in his prospects and expected a complete collapse.
As a result, the knife cuts the film and cardboard this way! It is sharpened perfectly and performs its task perfectly. By the way, it passes through all kinds of controls perfectly and does not raise any questions during flights.
Six months later, Aulumu G05 remains on the iPhone almost always. There are no complaints, except that you won’t be able to carry a MagSafe cardholder with it, but this is obvious as it is. It’s a good thing both as a dock and as a fidget. It doesn’t look bad. The knife is very situationally useful, I don’t deny it, but it works.
When traveling, I use the stand together with the original MagSafe “puck”: first I attach the charger, then the G05, and this is how I get an improvised dok-sandwich. Comfortable.
Its price is approximately 2700 rubles the thing, as for me, completely justifies it. Sold as on Yandex Marketso on AliExpress.
I recommend the second option, because I was “a little” surprised by the price on Yandex.
