She knew nothing about that stolen car parked in her yard, where it came from: she had only done a favor for an acquaintance of hers by allowing him to park there. At least, this is what an elderly woman from Castel Volturno (Caserta) told the police, who arrived in front of her house following the GPS signal. The military, however, did not believe her. And in the house they found it false documents and devices to steal cars.
The protagonist is a 73-year-old from the municipality of Casertano, reported at large, who will now have to answer for receiving traffic documents and car recycling. The operation began yesterday afternoon, January 8th. The carabinieri of the Mondragone Territorial Department were on the trail of a BMW X1 whose owner had reported theft a few days ago. The anti-theft device mounted on the vehicle was still active and so did the military followed the GPS signal to the woman’s house. In the courtyard there was a BMW X1, in which they had been Luxembourg license plates affixed. The car, however, was precisely the stolen one: it was opened and started with the keys provided by the man who had filed the report and the chassis number and identifiers present on the documentation produced at the time of the report also corresponded.
The woman tried to justify herself: the car, she said, was not parked by her but by an acquaintance of hers. However, he was not even able to provide the name of this person. The police searched the house and found blank traffic documents registered to non-existent people. Also at home are two electronic devices: a “full range all round detector”, a signal detector used for find bugs, GPS and hidden camerasand an “xhorse”, which is used for instead clone keys and remote controls. The BMW was returned to its rightful owner while documents and equipment were seized.
