“I made a mistake, I take responsibility” says Liagas after the backlash over the report on the property where Baldock died

Today’s report on the “Breakfast” show, in which Giorgos Liagas presented detailed information about the property where George Baldock lost his life, caused strong reactions on social media.

In particular, the presenter of the ANT1 morning show, in a story he uploaded to his personal Instagram account, wrote that the detailed analyzes of the house of the deceased footballer were unnecessary, he recognized his mistake and took full responsibility, stating that he understands the reactions that were caused.
More specifically, Giorgos Liagas wrote: “Faced with the death of a young person, we are all crushed. The excessive analyzes of the report, for elements related to the house were completely unnecessary. I realize the mistake, take full responsibility and fully understand the reactions.”

Outcry on social media for Giorgos Liagas - He reported on the property of Baldock

On X (formerly Twitter) and Facebook, reactions to the promotion of this particular topic were strong. Most expressed their outrage, finding it insulting and inhumane to focus journalistic attention on minor issues, such as the size of the deceased’s house, instead of paying due respect to the memory of a young man who had passed away too soon.

The authorities are trying to ascertain the exact circumstances of his death, since as it has become known, nothing predicted this development, except for the fact that he had not contacted him for several hours.

His wife who was in England with their daughter was looking for him and had to appeal to the owner of the house Baldock was renting so that he could go and find out what was going on. The man went to the property only to find the 31-year-old footballer dead in his swimming pool.

His death was immediately confirmed by EMS paramedics, who rushed to the scene shortly after the alert, but could do nothing to revive him. According to information from protothema.gr, Baldock was dead in the pool for at least five hours, with more data expected to emerge after the autopsy.

Devastated teammates as well as team members rushed out of his home when they heard the tragic news of his sudden death.
