“I received offers of 500,000 euros to become senators and deputies”

Gigi Becali returned to politics and the president of the party spoke about the offers received for the seats of senators and deputies.

FCSB boss wants to return to politics alongside the AUR party, led by George Simion, one of the candidates for the position of president of Romania. Simion clarified the situation regarding the Superliga millionaire and specified that he did not co-opt him into the party because he helped the party with money, but because he is a well-known man.

George Simion, about Gigi Becali’s involvement in AUR: “Brings votes”

The president of the AUR party revealed that he has received offers of even 500,000 euros for a seat in parliament, but he does not agree to sell. He accepts in the party only well-known people who can do something for the country and who can bring votes, as is the case with Gigi Becali.

“I don’t think that George Becali from 20 years ago is George Becali from 2024. He learned some things. He doesn’t go to monasteries and churches for nothing. (…) If Mr. Becali, like many other businessmen, gets involved in AUR financially – very good, but we do not make counter-costs.

I received different proposals, exorbitant sums, at least for me: 200, 300, 500,000 euros to make deputies and senators. And I refused. (…) I don’t sell parliamentary seats. I didn’t do it, I wouldn’t do it, for one simple reason: these people will leave us as soon as they enter the Parliament. (…)

I take Mr. Becali primarily because he respects the identity and political area where we are from and because he brings votes”, said George Simion, at Digi24.

Gigi Becali wants to change the sports law

The financier at FCSB has big plans and changed his mind regarding political life. He gave up politics a few years ago, but was convinced by George Simion to join the AUR party with which he will run for a seat in Parliament. Between 2009-2012, Becali was a member of the European Parliament from the PRM. The main reason why he is running is also related to football. He wants to change the Sports Law.
