Bajram Shala, the manager of the national team of Kosovo, was contacted to provide new details about the scandal that broke out in the match with Romania, following which UEFA opened an investigation.
The Kosovar official said that the European forum has not yet responded to the requests, but expressed confidence in the verdict that the team of lawyers could obtain.
Kosovo strongly believes they can beat Romania at UEFA
The national football teams of Romania and Kosovo are waiting for UEFA’s verdict regarding the disciplinary procedures that were opened after the game on Friday, November 15, 2024, which was played at the National Arena.
The game did not end according to the regulation, because in the 90th+4th minute, at the score of 0-0, the Kosovars abandoned. They were displeased with some “Serbia, Serbia” chants that could be heard from the stands, so they decided to leave the locker room and not return to the field.
Although the regulation clearly states that Romania should win 3-0 on green table this game, the Kosovars are confident that their team of lawyers will be able to turn the situation around. The news was provided by Bajram Shala, the manager of the Kosovo national team, who was contacted to provide new details:
There is still no decision from UEFA regarding the match in Romania. But we have submitted all the evidence and our legal team is working hard to bring justice to the country,” Bajram Shala said bluntly, quoted by Telegrafi.com.
The Kosovar official went on to say that he and his fellow compatriots felt insulted in the move from the National Arena:
The state of Kosovo will never allow it to be insulted, either on a racial basis or on any other basis. The Football Federation of Kosovo (FFK) believes in justice and we will not stop demanding our rights”, added the manager of the Kosovo national team.
There is just as much confidence in the Romanian camp
In the opposing camp, that of Romania, there is just as much confidence, as Mircea Lucescu made clear. Immediately after the Romania – Cyprus 4-1 match, the last of the Nations League campaign, the coach was also questioned about the disciplinary procedure opened by UEFA. In response, the legendary Romanian coach said that there can only be one verdict:
Normally it’s 3-0 for us. If he gave another decision, it would be terrible for football. Because it means that there are no more regulations and anyone could mess around in European or world football. A parrot over there says something through the stands, the team withdraws because they made him black or I don’t know what. No, it can’t be like that, there is a limit”, Mircea Lucescu raged, at the press conference after Romania – Cyprus 4-1.
