Caroline Garcia was the highest in the world ranking in singles at 4th place.

The 30-year-old Frenchwoman decided to end the season early. On the social network X stated that she is limited by health and psychological problems.

The US Open 2022 semifinalist did not live up to expectations this year and did not make it past the 2nd round at any of the Grand Slam tournaments. And it was not only health problems that were to blame.

“I need a reboot. It’s always around, tennis doesn’t stop. I have to take time off, see my loved ones again and start breathing without constant pressure,” said the tennis player.

In Guadalajara, Mexico, two weeks ago, Garciová played her last match of the season, in the semi-finals she was not enough against Poľka Frechová. “I have constant problems with my shoulder. I was hoping it would be good, but it’s not. I need more time to heal properly.”

Garciová, who won the 2019 Federation Cup with France, also revealed other details on the social network. “I’m exhausted. I suffer from anxiety, panic attacks and fight back tears before and after matches. It bothers me that I’m missing moments with my family and I don’t have a place that I can call a real home,” Garciová wrote.

Several of the world’s elite tennis players expressed their support for the French star on Instagram. The highest-ranked tennis player in the country currently ranks 36th. In her career, she won two Grand Slam titles in doubles, 11 triumphs in singles.

However, high expectations destroyed her. “I put a lot of pressure on myself. I didn’t become world number one, I didn’t win a grand slam in singles and I don’t even have a medal from the Olympics. I blame myself,” she admitted.

“However, I still love tennis, I just need to rest. Get together physically and mentally. I’m leaving for a while, but I believe I’ll see you in Australia. Thank you for your support,” Garciová added.
