There are often videos on social networks in which bloggers eat chocolate on camera. Yes, not just any one, but quite specificfrom sunny Dubai. This chocolate is produced by only one family-run confectionery, and to buy such a bar, you need to try hard.
We managed to get the original Dubai chocolate bar in Moscow and, frankly speaking, this pleasure is not cheap. For a 200-gram bar they paid a little more than 5,000 rublesbut I really wanted to personally evaluate the taste and understand what the hype is about and whether chocolate is worth the money.
To be objective, we also compared the original Fix with its Russian counterpart. Yes, we are already making “fake” Dubai chocolates in full swing, because there is no secret in the filling recipe. We also bought our Alyonka so that the comparison would be completely fair.
Let’s watch, subscribe, speak out:

And if you are too lazy to watch, then read the text version below, in which everything is brief and to the point.
What kind of Dubai chocolate is this?
If you are not a fan of TikToks and Reels, then here is a brief history of the phenomenon called “Dubai chocolate”.
In 2021, a confectioner originally from Egypt named Sarah Hamuda and her husband opened a small confectionery store that sold treats with non-standard flavors. At that time, this was not their main business, rather a passion and desire to try themselves in a new field.
In 2023, the couple comes up with milk chocolate with an original filling, which consists of unsweetened pistachio paste, finely chopped and fried kataifi dough and sesame paste. This delicacy would have remained unknown to few people, but then the popular TikToker Maria Vejera films fateful video in which he unpacks and tries this chocolate bar.
The same video with Maria Vejera.
The unusual shape of the tile, crispy texture and abundance of filling appealed to viewers so much that the video currently has almost 100 million views. From the moment he went viral on social networks, a new life began for the couple of pastry chefs.
The family confectionery is limited in its ability to mass produce sweets, because they do everything themselves, by hand. So the coveted chocolate can only be purchased through the delivery service, and sales open every day at 17:00. The tiles sell out literally within a few minutes, or even seconds, so those who didn’t have time have to wait a day until the next start of sales.
The popularity of this delicacy is so high that the Consulate General of Russia in Dubai made a recommendation for domestic tourists not to agree to requests from strangers to transport Dubai chocolate across the border on a large scale.
In Russia, when searching for “Dubai chocolate,” marketplaces offer a fairly wide selection, but you need to look for original products. Basically, you can buy domestic analogues, which cost several times less, and from the photo they are practically no different from the hype original.
So we bought several tiles:
original chocolate from that same candy store (5000 rubles)
analogue from domestic confectioners (600 rubles)
The small fake tile looks exactly like the original one. Just a smaller size.
A girl was invited as a sweets expert, whom you may have already seen in our video review of the cybertruck (look, it’s just a beast!).
Weight, smell, unpacking
Original Dubai chocolate is packaged in thick foil and a paper cuff. When you open it, you can clearly smell the chocolate; the bar is quite thick and weighty. It’s no joke, not everyone can handle 200 grams of sweets in one sitting.
The fake chocolate bar is much smaller in size, but almost identical in thickness. The smell of chocolate is also pronounced, but there is also a slight smell of oil.
The general impressions are as follows: if you don’t hold the original and the analogue in your hands, then the creation of domestic confectioners can easily pass for a sweet from the UAE, at least visually.
Next, look at the texture and filling.
We break the tiles. What’s inside
In all the videos, Dubai chocolate produces a distinct crunch when broken, plus the filling stretches. We were unable to achieve either one or the other. Perhaps there was no need to store the chocolate in the refrigerator.
However, there was a lot of filling. Both in the original and in the domestic analogue.
The texture of the green paste in the products turned out to be almost the same, but the smell…
If the filling of the original Dubai chocolate bar smells of pistachios, then in the Russian chocolate bar the unpleasant smell overwhelmed everything else. It looks like many times used vegetable oil was poured inside after frying French fries.
In terms of smell, the Russian product is frankly inferior to the Dubai product.
What about the taste? Original VS fake VS Alyonka
The original is moderately sweet, but not cloying.
It seems that the chocolate with the filling should have the same taste, plus or minus. After all, as I wrote above, there is no secret in preparing the filling. However, when compared directly, the difference is very noticeable.
Dubai chocolate is sweet in moderation. Not cloying, similar to a mixture of chocolate and halva. The filling is slightly viscous, with a pronounced pistachio flavor. There is also a taste of fried dough.
Russian chocolate is too sweet. If you can eat about half of the original bar without the risk of falling into a “sweet coma,” then Russian chocolate is suitable only for true sweet tooths.
You all know our domestic “Alenka”, which has no filling at all. So, she was also included in the battle of chocolate and you know, in terms of chocolate taste, our dear Alyonka is even tastier than foreign chocolate.
Difference in shades: “Alenka” has a more pronounced milky taste, while Dubai chocolate seems to be sweeter and tasteless. Now, if you took the filling from the original and poured melted Alyonka over it, you would get the perfect dessert.
Verdict. Is it worth 5000 rubles?
You can try it once, even for 5 thousand.
Dubai chocolate is not just a hype delicacy for TikTok, but is truly a rather original and unusual dessert. The aura of fame makes it even tastier, and if you want to try it, which is why there is so much noise in the media space, then you can spend 5 thousand one time.
Well, or ask your friends in Dubai to try to order the treasured tile in time.
It’s definitely not worth starting your acquaintance with this chocolate with Russian analogues. You will be disappointed with the taste and think: “so what did everyone find in this? It’s good that I didn’t buy expensive tiles” And you will be wrong.
So if you want to try an unusual dessert, or please your significant other, don’t waste money on an original Fix chocolate bar.
We didn’t regret it.
