The pizza place operating under the brand that originated in Russia, owned by Viktor Ivanov and Žanna Ivanova, survived the corona, energy crisis, inflation and even road repair in Tallinn quite successfully, now Dodo Pizza is preparing for a new shake-up – a tax increase.
“Everything is normal for us,” said Viktor Ivanov, one of the company’s founders and a member of the board. “Turnover is increasing, but this is partly the result of inflation.”
He acknowledged that this year, due to the construction of Gonsiori Street, there were of course fewer visitors than usual. “But since an important part of our sales is delivery, we survived it quite easily,” Ivanov Delovõje told Vedomosti. In total, the company has three sales points in Tallinn and one in Pärnu. Construction of a pizza place is currently underway in Tartu, he added.
But why this order: first in Pärnu, then in Tartu?
At first we had a plan to open a place in Tallinn and three other cities at the same time: Pärnu, Tartu and Narva. From then on, everything depended on whether there were free rooms in a good location. We were just lucky in Pärnu: there was a good offer right on the main street. In Tartu, however, we were looking for premises for years. There – this is my guess – the restrictions imposed during the coronavirus affected the restaurant business significantly less than in Tallinn. In Tallinn, many cafes closed their doors and somehow vacancies started to appear immediately. But in Tartu only this year.
