“I will always be his dad. Turetta? I listened to him without anger”

“We created Giulia Cecchettin Foundation, officially established a few weeks ago and which we will officially present on November 18th in Montecitorio”. Gino Cecchettinfather of Giulia, the 22-year-old student killed last November 11th by her ex-boyfriend Filippo Turetta.

On the eve of the first anniversary of his daughter’s death, Cecchettin spoke of the Foundation which takes the name of the young woman and which will be officially presented in a few days to the Chamber. He did so interviewed by Fabio Fazio in this evening’s episode of What’s the weather like? on the Nine.

“Our Foundation aims to fight against violence Of typebut also education and awareness-raising on this topic. I tried to bring the beauty of Giulia and her way of seeing life. She loved livingshe was good and altruistic and we would like to continue along this line”, said Gino Cecchettin, who also explained that he wanted to launch projects in the schools “to make students understand that loving is better than hating, with teaching plans that the members of our technical committee are developing. We would like to follow a path that leads us to have an hour of education on affectivity in class”.

Also important is the dialogue in the family because – continued Gino Cecchettin – “life is made up of obstacles that we have to overcome but often we don’t do the best for the kids. A bit of turbulence is necessary because it makes us stronger. This allows them to develop attitudes so that when push comes to shove accept defeat and make a virtue of it.”

Cecchettin then also spoke about Filippo Turetta, accused in the ongoing trial on the murder of his daughter: “I managed to listen to his words without feeling anger. I managed not to hate by focusing on my loved ones.” And finally, a thought for Giulia: “I will always be her dad, until the end of my days. She still lives in memory and in the deeds we are doing. They arrived at our house three thousand letters. A few months ago we had a project, which was to help people who are victims of violence. Something was seen. A few weeks ago I was going to Puglia for a book presentation trip and a girl touched me on the shoulder and said: thank you, because with what you do I stayed alive”.
