At the age of 14, he met for the first time the energy of the Ideo Ideis Festival and says that he had a sensation similar to the one he felt when he went to the sea with his parents for the first time. Vlad Galer he then discovered something very good for him in Alexandria and says that Ideo remained his driving force in his acting career. In the last 19 years, many teenagers went through the festival, worked with professional actors, had inspirational meetings, made friends. Some later became actors, others followed other professional paths. What is certain, however, is that this artistic movement helped everyone in their development.
Vlad Galer is one of the young theater trainers of this year’s edition.
“My mission at Ideo Ideis this year is the same as that of last year and next year. Through games, I will be able to put a mirror in front of the teenagers and make them realize that they HAVE everything they need. If they leave the meeting with one extra milligram of courage, I’m the happiest”, says Vlad.
We continue to talk with Vlad Galer about Ideo Ideis and the youth theater. Between August 1-8, the city of Alexandra becomes the place where young people at the beginning of their journey in the theater and professional actors willing to share their experience can be (re)found.
From the biography
My path is not more difficult than that of my colleagues, nor more spectacular or winding. He worked and he is working hard, he makes efforts (but who doesn’t?) and he tries to find joy here in the now. It is a job of people, with and for people, so it is a constant knowledge of everything inside and outside. I finished Letters at UniBuc, the 3rd year overlapped with the 1st year of acting at UNATC, then followed the master’s, doctorate, courses, workshops, performances, meetings, disappointments, failures (or rehearsals as he advised me to call them, recently, a extremely smart gentleman), hey, you’re broke and everything with everything. The great luck of my life is represented by the people who surround me and whom I choose to surround myself with.
“You have everything you need”, the message of Ideo Ideis in 2024. How was it for you?
In my case, it took a long time to realize that I have everything I need. Later I was told this and much later I began to realize this. I still have moments when I forget this or when I am convinced that I don’t have it and that I am not enough.
I think that the basic ingredient in my mix is an unsettling hardness. Sometimes unconscious, other times naive, from time to time brave and vocal. But yes, tenacity, stubbornness, perseverance.
Ideo Ideis for you
I think that Ideo is a necessary human movement, which was born organically and which turned to survive in spite of all weather conditions. It’s not about artsy fartsy, it’s about knowing, growing and enjoying together. Common values and similar traits have brought and kept us together.
First date
I was 14 years old when I came to Ideo Ideis for the first time and I had a feeling similar to the one I had the first time when my parents took me to the sea. I was like any teenager discovering something very very cool.
I like to think that I still have the engine for doing the job I do. This is one of the reasons why I keep coming back. To remind me of myself.
Your mission this year in the festival

What will you tell them from your experience so far?
Ideo is not a factory of actors. Even the professional faculty should not be seen this way, because it is not like that. It depends a lot on you, on your seriousness, on the work that you are not only willing to put in, but that you actually put in. Of course, in this profession, as in all the others (it’s no better than the others from this point of view), it depends on luck, destiny, call it what you want, but it depends a lot on yourself .
What are the young people who come to Ideo Ideis looking for?
Look for values, landmarks and spaces for expression. It unites the potential of which they are not yet aware, the curiosity, the desire to live, to feel, to discover.

The energy of the young theater
It is a potent energy, because that is why it is young 🙂 I work a lot with young people, in many contexts, and I can say from the inside that it is a generation with extremely many qualities. The biggest difference, which I appreciate the most, is the fact that they have the courage to express themselves when they notice injustice.
The help of the theater in the coagulation of communities
It helps immeasurably. There are entire libraries that analyze the impact of theater in the community. Community theater has the power to literally change lives, destinies, behaviors and relationships. Theater in the community can make, step by step, idea by idea, a more empathetic and, implicitly, a better world.
The support of acting in the development of an adolescent
Again, a short answer to this question would be incomplete, and a long one would require a doctoral thesis :)) theater education is NOT intended to create actors, but responsible people, prepared to be responsible citizens in a bizarre society , dynamic and diverse.

At the moment treat la Ideo Ideis
One of my favorite moments in the festival is when I enter the opening ceremony, I see my dear people again, I see the enthusiastic young participants from the current year, everyone sings “here they come, the beautiful ones, the beautiful ones, lalalalalaaaaaaa”, we fight, we we smile and everything is fine. This moment is always the same, frozen in time.
How do you see the future of this festival?
I see him growing and adapting to the needs of today’s teenagers.
