Political scientist Cristian Preda, a former member of the European Parliament, believes that PSD leader Marcel Ciolacu should resign from the position of prime minister, after revealing the complicity between PSD and AUR in the 2024 presidential elections.

“Ciolacu and Simonis confirm that all the PSD organizations voted for Simion in the election for Cotroceni on November 24. If I were president, I would immediately demand Ciolacu’s resignation”, claimed Cristian Preda in a post on Facebook, on the evening of January 3, 2025.

Preda’s reaction comes after Marcel Ciolacu made public a conversation he had with Alfred Simonis in a so-called game organized on TikTok. In that conversation, Simonis informed Ciolacu about the fact that “all” PSD members voted for George Simion in the first round of the presidential elections, on November 24, 2024.

Marcel Ciolacu did not accumulate the number of votes necessary to qualify for the second round of the presidential elections. As is known, Călin Georgescu and Elena Lasconi qualified in the second round.
