The video has already made the rounds on the web, and has sparked several reactions from users.

The immediate fix

The interview given to Oprah Winfrey, in fact, took place in a rather complex period, in which the concern for the political violence it’s sky high.

After the second attack on Donald Trump, the Democratic candidate for the White House had also declared that she owns a gun, which she keeps to ensure her personal safety.

In any case, Kamala Harris quickly corrected herself. The statement, accompanied by laughter, was followed by a “I shouldn’t have said that”.

Furthermore, after having uttered the incriminating sentence, Kamala Harris promptly added: “My staff will take care of fixing things.“.

The candidate’s position on firearms

The live-streamed conversation between Kamala Harris and Oprah Winfrey was also an opportunity for the Democratic candidate to reiterate her position on gun ownership.

Harris is firmly inclined to own weapons as personal security measuresas well as being in favor of the Second Amendment. The Democratic candidate, as mentioned, owns a firearm, which she has had since 2019.

However, Harris reiterates his refusal towards so-called assault weapons. In fact, these are weapons designed for war, a tool which therefore “cannot circulate in a civil society”.
