If Chhatra League is not banned, my country secretary warns of agitation

Awami League’s fraternal organization Chhatra League has been demanded by the interim government to be banned by next Sunday, the editor and publisher of Dainik Amar Desh. Mahmudur Rahman. If not, he has warned to start the movement from next Monday.

Mahmudur Rahman said his demand and warning in an exchange meeting with the students of Islamic University (EB) TSC on Thursday afternoon.

He said, ‘If the Chhatra League is not banned by next Sunday, then the movement will start from Monday. You will start agitation from EB in support of my demand. Continue the movement until banned. I will be in the field in Dhaka. You will stay here in the field.’

Mahmudur Rahman said, ‘If we want to keep the country free from Awami League, we must first free it from Chhatra League. If there is any militant organization in Bangladesh it is Chhatra League. A few days ago, in a speech at the National Press Club, I gave seven days to ban the Chhatra League as a terrorist organization. I would like to remind you that the seven days will end next Sunday.’

My country editor said, ‘A revolution has taken place through the blood of the students. This revolution cannot be misled. Let there be no division between the anti-discrimination student movement.’

He also said, ‘We have to continue our efforts to sustain the current government. Because, if this government does not survive, Indian imperialism will rear its head. But we also have to keep an eye on the government, so that they don’t go astray. Everyone has to take this responsibility.’

Earlier last Sunday (October 6) Mahmudur Rahman gave a seven-day ultimatum to ban Chhatra League as a ‘terrorist organization’ during an exchange of views with journalists at the National Press Club. On that day, he stated a total of seven demands to the current government.
