Former US President Donald Trump and the Republican candidate in this year’s presidential elections brought technology billionaire Ilon Musk on stage during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, the place where he was assassinated in mid-July and was slightly wounded.
From the rally, Trump called on his supporters to bring him victory in the elections.
“Twelve weeks ago, we all took a bullet for America. All I’m asking is for everyone to come out and vote. We have to win,” said Trump, as reported by AP.
Standing behind impenetrable protective glass, he called his assassin a “malignant monster” and added that his plan had failed thanks to “the will and grace of God”.
In his address to the thousands of gathered Trump supporters, Musk repeated many of the theses used in his campaign by the former US president and his vice-presidential candidate JD Vance.
The technology entrepreneur who launched Tesla and SpaceX and bought the social platform X (X, formerly Twitter) called the presidential election to be held on November 5 “the most important election of our lifetime.”
“The other side wants to take away your freedom of speech. They want to take away your right to bear arms,” Musk told the crowd, adding, “They want to take away your right to vote.”
At a rally in Butler, Thomas Crooks, 20, of Pennsylvania shot the former president on July 13, wounding him in the right ear and killing a retired fire chief. The assassin was killed by the security forces.
“President Trump must win to preserve the constitution. He must win to preserve democracy in America,” Musk said.
“If he doesn’t do it, this will be the last election. That’s my prediction,” Mask said, as reported by Hina.
The fact is, however, that Trump was accused by Democrats and many Republicans of wanting to undermine the constitution and the will of American voters by trying to overturn the results of the 2020 election, in which he lost to Joe Biden.
Musk often promotes conspiracy theories and has been supporting Trump for a long time, and regularly criticizes his opponent, the current US Vice President Kamala Harris.
Trump recently hinted that Musk could lead the U.S. Treasury Audit Committee if he wins the election. “Musk should cut government spending,” Trump said.
At the rally in Butler, security measures were visibly increased, and armed police officers in camouflage uniforms were deployed on the surrounding rooftops.
In the elections four years ago, Trump lost in Pennsylvania, a key state for the US presidential elections.
