If Lamborghini “studies” the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N (electric)

Although Lamborghini has decided to postpone the launch of its first electric car until 2029, this does not mean that it has stopped closely studying the most advanced technologies in the sector. The Sant’Agata Bolognese brand is aware that, to maintain its prestige in the era of electric mobility, it will have to be ready to propose a solution that is not only powerful, but also on par with its legendary supercars. In this context it inserts a curious sighting documented by Varryx: a Hyundai Ioniq 5 N filmed while crossing the gates of the Lamborghini headquarters.

It’s not uncommon for automakers to look at the competition, but seeing a high-performance electric car like the Ioniq 5 N wandering around Lamborghini raised more than a few questions. In the video, shot near the Lamborghini headquarters, you can see the usual parade of camouflaged supercars entering and exiting the company’s fenced driveway.

This time, however, surprisingly, an Ioniq 5 N joins the scene, crossing the gates and passing silently in front of the camera. This is not a random event or an employee’s private car: instead, it appears highly probable that Lamborghini is using this model as a reference to evaluate the performance of electric sports cars.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N as a point of reference?

The idea of Lamborghini using the Ioniq 5 N as a benchmark is not at all surprising: this car is equipped with a dual-motor system producing 650 hp, a power comparable to that of the Lamborghini Urus, but what is really impressive is the way in which Hyundai manages to discharge all this power to the ground, offering impeccable control and driving dynamics.

The electric crossover knows how to be composed when necessary, but can also drift at will, offering pure fun to those who drive it. Several collaborators of Motor1.com they had the opportunity to try the Ioniq 5 N both on the road and on the track, and every time the experience proved to be exciting, with a guaranteed smile.

The spectacular drive of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N

This, of course, does not mean that the Ioniq 5 N will directly influence the design of the future Revuelto, Lamborghini’s V12-powered hybrid supercar. However, the Italian brand could certainly take a cue from Hyundai’s technological solutions ahead of the launch of its first electric vehicle.

Anticipated by the Lanzador concept, presented in 2023, the first Lamborghini EV will be a crossover capable of seating four passengers, with a declared power of over 1,300 HP. As often happens with concepts, Lamborghini has not yet revealed many technical details on the final engine. However, considering the brand’s history, it wouldn’t be surprising if the production model maintained similar performance.

If Lamborghini “studies” the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N (electric)

If there’s one lesson Hyundai has taught with the Ioniq 5 N, it’s that power and control can coexist, resulting in a car capable of delivering pure fun. This is why it is not surprising to see a car like the Ioniq 5 N wandering around Lamborghini: the future is electric, and to remain competitive every detail can make the difference.
